Is it good to consolidate before marriage?

Isn't it suggestable to go for consolidation before marriage ? Or is it only for those with debts/credits ? I thought it must be a good idea to go for debtconsolidation...for comfort,stable beter marriage,and over all for a better future etc..any advice pls?
