Don't get scared of these people. Send a debt validation letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. This will cost you not more than $4.42. Also mention in the letter that you want to cease and desist all communication except by mail. Cover your basis by documenting all the phone calls with dates and time. You are taking steps of compiling the list of violations for future use. Interstate Wire compliance Bureau will never respond to your letter. This is good for you and will be added on to the list of violations. You need to educate yourself about the fdcpa laws and know your rights. You will feel much better once you start taking these steps. This company has been calling people giving threats and causing harassment. Do not respond to their phone calls. After receiving your C&D letter, if they contact you, you need to hire an attorney and file charges against them. Put your complaint against them at the attorney general office, FTC and the BBB. Read posts of others as well and know how they been scaring people to death. This company can't take any legal actions against you because they have violated the laws in a number of cases. This is the same company that earlier used to Ellis Crosby and now they are using fake names like Taylor James and Associates, Interstate Wire compliance Bureau, Anthony Galloway and Associates. So, arm yourself before you get a call from any such company. Talk to your original creditors and make arrangements for your payday loans. It will be much easier working with them. Sonic wants it all at once or they make your life a living hell. Look at the past forums about Sonic and you will understand what I mean.

What is really weird is I revoked my wage assignment with them months ago and also sent a cease and desit letter. Included in that was a request for validation of the debt. I did receive e few calls from someone named Melanie. However when I called and left her a message and told her about the letter that was sent her company, they quit calling. Last week I received a letter from them with a settlement offer of $366. But still not phone calls or verification of the debt. So I don't know what they are up to.

If the settlement offer sounds good to you, you can think further on it. Get everything in writing from them. Like, they will update your file with the bureaus after the account is paid in full, send you receipts of the payment and you will send your checks through certified mail. But above everything, Sonic should give you some proof in writing on the account on which you will be paying. On this basis only, you will think further. |

Well, I have been working with one of my payday lenders via e-mail. They agreed on a settlement but said negative things to me in this e-mail. I asked for a copy of their license to do business in Ohio and they blabbed on about being licensed in Delaware. So I stated that I believed they needed to be licensed in Ohio to do business with a Ohio consumer. This is what I found out from the Ohio Division of financial institutions and through the FTC. I said I would do further research. Then I suggested a payment settlement. Now, I received an e-mail back that I was threatening to shut them down, idle threats of getting them in trouble for loaning money to me. Huh? I didn't threaten in any way. I just simply asked a question. Isn't it my right as a consumer to know these things???? I didn't threaten to write or complain about them. I merely stated that I have done research with different agencies. I didn't say do this or I'll file a complaint against you. What idle threats? I do have records of all the e-mails. I'm not pleased about this one. Then they went on about how it's no wonder none of my other lenders were willing to work with me. I thanked them in an e-mail this morning for the information they sent me such as contract and other things. I said some other lenders had been very difficult when answering such questions. Okay.... Then it goes on that I was a difficult person to work with. Hmmm, I'm not ignoring the situation. Then, if I would have held up my end of the bargain that everything would be fine. Excuse me? They were informed that I was going into debt consolidation before anything defaulted. Is this allowed? I don't know what to think. I wanted to reply with a really nasty e-mail but I didn't. I need to calm down. They did agree to a settlement but I asked for it in writing. It seems they will only do it via e-mail. Should I reply back that in order for me to make my first payment, I would need this mailed to my home address? They said they haven't reported me to any credit bureau or teletrack. What is they decide to after I've paid in full? An e-mail really won't help me, will it?

Well, I wrote the lady back stating I would need something in writing before sending first payment. I'm not taking any chances here. I would like to honestly get his settled but I'm not going to be taken advantage of either. I don't trust payday lenders anymore. I also sent copies of the e-mails and contracts to the consumer protection section of the attorney general's office. I sent it to the lady who has been dealing with another complaint against, well Sonic. Guess what, they haven't replied back yet. I think they get ten days or something.....Then I called back a number that was left on my cell phone. It was for a payment processing center. She asked if I was calling from the US or Canada. As soon as I said the US, she realized it was a loan with Sonic. I was transferred to a Ms. Smith who asked what I was calling about. I said this number called me with no message. She said if it was important they would call back and hung up on me before I could ask any further questions. Sheesh!

Htgt,
Sonic is the hardest company to deal with. I defaulted on a loan with them at the end of December and it has been placed with a debt consolidation company prior to default. They were notified of this as well but of course they deny it. Hmmmm, I have a copy of the letter and the certified mail receipts. Now it is in their collections department and it's nothing but playing games with them. They have even been rude to my debt counselor. I also have for verification from them of my payment and account history. I sent it out last week but I'm not holding my breath. |

I agree Sonic is difficult to deal with. I was unable to get anything in writing from Cash Today. However, I was able to correspond with them via e-mail. I consider e-mail just as good as a letter since it is the only way they would communicate except via phone. I think this will hold up if I have any problems since he stated his name and company at the end of each e-mail. I saved them all.
