then your best bet is work out things with the company and if they won't work with you get into a consolidation. Call the company you owe...they might work out a feasible payment plan.

I have a pay day loan in the amount of $800 and one for $1400. I had been paying the finance charge and renewing the loan. Recently I was unable to pay on either one. I was told by The Cash Store that my only 2 options are pay the loan in full or pay the finance charge. I am not able to pay in full and I wld rather not pay the finance charge and renew it I wld like to be able to pay on it so that the balance decrease. What should I do?

Hmm… you have to work out this arrangement with your lender directly. Have it in writing after they have accepted your proposal. They might sound hard in accepting your proposals in the beginning but later, if the check is cashed, you will be sure about them accepting it. Keep trying till they accept it and a written proof of the arrangement will prove out the facts.

Sub: #298 can I go to jail in AZ for outstanding payday loans?

Please help. I found your site and am curious if you can go to jail or if you just get a judgement on your record. I was let go in January from work due to many health conditions and have had an extremely rough time finding permanent work and I have a few paydayloans from before that I haven't been able to pay off. They are constantly stressing me out. Scaring me and making me very edgy as I don't like putting anyone out. I have tried making arrangements to pay them off but I am a single mom and barely making ends meet. What do I do? And can I go to jail in AZ if I don't pay them off? Please let me know!

Don't get scared of these jail threats. Most collection agencies are found of using these words as a scare tactics. The CA is bound by federal laws to validate the debt in writing. Read this link to know about your rights while dealing with the CAs.

Thank you for your response earlier. I do have another question though. I heard from someone it is illegal to have more than one paydayloan out at a time in Arizona and I currently have 3. Can I go to jail because of that? I am currently paying on one and hope to take care of the others soon, but I am worried that someone will find out about the multiple accounts and come after me. I am an honest person, just going through rough times right now. I really do want to take care of paying them but I don't know what to do. Is their anyone out there who knows AZ laws? Can they prosecute and send me to jail? Please write back asap.

Thanks a bunch!

Visit the Arizona State Legislature website for payday loan regulations in your state.

Type "payday loan laws' in the search box and the website will take you to the relevant links. I will also have a look there.
