Sub: pay day loan wage garnishment

Don't let any pay day loan company fool you into any of their tricks. I owe wayyyy too many payday loan companies and Sonic payday loans being one of them. They tried to get my wages garnished through that voluntary wage assignment but I called them up and revoked it because you can do so. Here in Ohio or any other state, wage garnishment can only be enforced through court order. That voluntary crap they make you sign can be cancelled by you making the phone call to them.

Lexis-who is the loan with? Chances are, this is a threat and nothing else. If you read the previous posts, you will see how collectors threaten people-that is a crime. Tell us who the loan is through, is it an internet pay day loan? Karen

I recently took out a payday loan in March through Arrowhead investments. Well needless to say I wasn't able to pay them back on time and today I get a call from the law offices of Meredith Lawson telling me I had stolen money from the government. I was going to jail on three charges that the police would be out in 2 hours to arrest me. Plus I used my works fax to do this which was a crime and so on. What do I do. Obviously its about 4 hours later and I have yet to be arrested. Is this stuff true. Is it a scam?

Chasity,

It sounds to me like they are trying to impersonate a law firm. This is a trick commonly used by payday lenders in order to scare you into giving up your hard earned cash. You cannot go to jail because there is no such thing as a debtor's prison anymore. I used to do collections and this is a violation of the fdcpa, clear and simple. I would suggest contacting the Federal Trade Commission to file a complaint against them. Did they give you any contact info? Also, file a complaint with your state's consumer protection office against Arrowhead as well as Meredith Lawson. I would also suggest filing a complaint in the state that Arrowhead is located in. I would bet any amount of money they are not licensed there either.

Listen to them. This imposter is the one who is committing the CRIMES, not crime but CRIMES. What she is doing is very illegal. Tell her to get a life, and ask if she goes home and tells lies to her family like that and hell is awaiting her arrival, hopes she enjoys enternity.

Actually, you can read it here.

Quote:
Watch out for these thieving companies

I am warning my readers of an online payday loan company and their so-called collection agency. The name of the collection company, which is based in Jacksonville, Florida, is BASS AND ASSOCIATES. This is not to be confused with the legitimate Bass and Associates. The company I am speaking of stole the name of two real companies located in Arizona, Iowa and Nebraska. You can not find the company I am writing about, through the Internet. Allow me to explain why the fake company are crooks. A friend of mine was short of cash a few months ago, so she applied for an online loan with a company calling themselves; ARROWHEAD INVESTMENTS, another company which can not be located on the web. They deposited the amount into her checking account. Over a short period of time, the loan was repaid, using a method allowing for the loan company to withdraw the amount owed. However, and this is where it gets crooked, the loan company continued to withdraw money, without authorization. Pretty soon, the only option, which the bank informed her of, was to close the account all together, to cease anymore stealing of her money. She thought that it was over at last. It wasn't quite over, since she received a call recently, at her work from Kelly, an employee of BASS AND ASSOCIATES, the fake company. This Kelly, who lacks a last name, went on to state that they were filing motions in a court of law, and that she better get an attorney, and that she will be arrested due to committing bank fraud, check fraud and an array of other white collar crimes, unless of course, she wire money within the hour to their account. I received a frantic, tearful call from my friend, relaying what was told to her. She left work early, in tears and in complete anguish. I personally called this company back to investigate their claims and to have them restate the ramifications which they stated to her. The 'boss', DAVID JACOBS, refused to repeat their threats to me. I then asked for their fax number so that I can send them a letter stating to never contact my friend again, unless it is through a mediation organization. This Mr. Jacobs, refused to share their contact information. During the conversation, he referred to me as a moron. Very professional? No way. So, today, I contacted the Florida Attorney Generals Office and shared with them the actions of BASS AND ASSOCIATES. I was informed by the A.G. office, that this particular company is already under investigation. If anyone is interested in calling this company, perhaps to just ask how the weather is in Jacksonville, the number is as follows: 1-877-281-2220. Also, ask for Mr. Jacobs or Kelly.I ask all readers to call at least once, and tell them how you read all about them on my site. If you have dealt with this company also, let me know. I am not a friend of organizations who intimidate or harass hard working people. If you have information to add to this story, let me know, even your own dealings with certain collection agencies. Your thoughts?
P.S. DAVID JACOBS, you are a loser who will one day get what is legally coming to you, and I will see that it happens. It won't matter how many times you change the name of your company, or that you know anyone from Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. I told Mr. Jacobs to Google my name, and so far, he has had my name Googled four times from New Jersey. I am recording the Internet Address, which is: 70.91.149. I imagine that these crooks use a router to throw people off of their trail. Trust me, the Banking and commerce regulators and Attorney Generals from two states are involved with this case. You crook.

Information on this 'company':
Bass and Associates (name stolen from a real company in Arizona, Iowa and Nebraska, not legitimate name)
Names given during calls: David Jacobs,Kelly, no last name given, and Paul Rodriguez (may also be alias names)
Known phone number: 1-877-281-2220 (Phone number may also change, for concealing and relocating purposes, well used practice of crooked companies)
David Jacobs mobile phone: 1-904-982-0091 (This number is on his answering machine voice mail)

Physical address of crooks, given to me by Florida Attorney Generals Office:
314 West 44th
Jacksonville, Florida 32208 (This address is the one on file in the state of Florida, subject to change, I'm sure.)

Hey Tweedle(DUM): this is posted due to threats from companies. Did you read it, or just scan through it. Don't question why something is posted, especially if I posted it, there is usually a reason, even if it isn't applicable to you.

Here is my story about Internet Payday loans:

Internet PayDay Loans are hazardous to your sanity and bank account

We have all seen the advertisements on television, and in pop-up ads online; "Quick Cash!!!" and "All you need is a job, checking account and a pulse." The pulse part is my added sarcasm. Anyway, there are thousands of Internet payday loan companies to choose from if you are ever in need of extra cash; but is it truly worth the heartache. Let me run the most typical scenario by you, and you will see what I mean. I have done a lot of research on this industry, and I must say, if you are not informed of your state laws, you can be screwed out of your money, and it won't end. Now, back to the most typical scenarios that consumers face when seeking an online loan. First you will be required to fill out an online form, with information such as your employment, employment address and phone number, supervisor, your pay schedule, and if you have direct deposit for your paychecks. Then they will have you submit this form by clicking 'submit'. In a few moments, in some cases longer, you will receive an approval in your email inbox. Within a day or two, sometimes three, you will see that this company deposited the amount requested into your checking account. The first payment on this loan will usually be due within a week or two, depending on the company. However, and this is where it starts to get ugly, monetarily speaking. The first payment due is just the interest and fees. The second payment due is also just for the interest and fees, and on and on it goes. Lets say you applied for three hundred dollars. If you do not completely repay this in the first week, this three hundred dollars can turn into three thousand dollars. How can these loan companies charge so much in interest and fees on such a small loan? Simply put, legally they can not, but most consumers, you and I, are not informed of the laws that govern these online crooks. You see, every state has laws, which differ from state to state, but are similar in that they protect the consumer. These laws control how much you must pay back on a loan and how many times a loan company can allow you to 'roll over' a loan. Also, most Internet payday loan companies are not even licensed to operate in most states, or licensed to collect in those states. Lets say you borrowed that three hundred dollars again, but this time you pay back only what is legally allowed. You would end up paying back about three hundred and sixty dollars. That is a huge difference from the original three thousand dollars. The difference is information. The difference is knowing the laws and consumer protection acts. If you currently have online loans which you are still paying on or gave up paying (defaulting) all together, do not worry. Please check with your state laws regarding online loans. If an online loan company is ripping off your bank account by taking money without authorization, then tell your bank to cease any debits from your account, and report the loan company, immediately to the Attorney General Office of your state, as well as the AGO of the loan companies state. You will be surprised at how many online loan companies are already under investigation for stealing, lying, deceiving consumers and so on. If you can stay away from online loans, then that would be great, but if you must apply for one, get informed. Research to see if the online loan company is licensed to even operate in your state. Also, if you do not pay back what you owe, you can not be arrested, like some collection companies try to threaten consumers with. You also are not committing any white collar crimes, another tactic used to scare people into wiring them money. Most tactics used to collect are illegal. If you are ever contacted by either a loan company or collection company, and they threaten arrest or accuse you of any crimes, they are the ones violating the laws. Please get informed. You are not alone. There is no way that I could cover every negative aspect of Internet loan companies, so please visit this site:

Saying they are a lawfirm and the papers are fixing to be processed and I will be arrested. Obviously her 2 hr deadline has since passed almost 24 hours ago. I am going to checkthe websites as you said to see if these are legite companies...
