Is this the proper spelling of that company. And is there a hyphen in the name for sure?

Perhaps we can figure more out about the company if we knew more info. Do you have a phone number...

I did deal with them, and I had already paid EC. I forwarded copies of my payment receipts to them and the loan company and they removed me from the system. Go to the web site and call the # that is listed there.

On an e-mail that they sent me, they show their name as "Elin-Collectedge Services, LLC" and address as "PO Box 217, Piscataway, NJ 08855", phone number is 800-450-9092 and fax is 732-748-4381. The reps who I've spoken with all claim that they are in India. I hope they're legitimate, so I can clear this up, but their refusal to give me any supporting validation, makes me suspect...

There should be an IP address at the bottom of the email....

...do you have this as well. It's probably a computer generated email, but this can also track where they're being sent from.

PS...I'm in the Detroit area, also...

actually I'm not sure how you can find the IP address. I'm able to do it on my end, because I'm a different email service.

Is that us.f528.mail.yahoo.com their email service?

or is that yours?

Thanks, Mikey and Roxette... I don't see any numbers, like you've shown, Roxette, perhaps they can block that or hide it somehow. Since I know nothing about IP address', I wouldn't have a clue... My e-mail address is through "Yahoo", so maybe that's something on my end, hard telling! Thanks for thinking of this, though...

I have several cash advances and I cannot get out of them. I will get one to cover the fees for another one pay bills. By the time I get paid, I do not have any money. Does anyone know what to do? I thought about closing my checking acct. and getting another one. That way, they cannot draw anything from my account. I will pay them but it will be about $50 a month. The fees are outrageous. I jsut cannot afford it anymore. HELP!

Spoilbrat

Changing account numbers would be the best bet for you. You'll stray away from those NSF fees you're receive each time they hit your account. But you might want to be sending in more than $50. The amount of the loan you took out should be going to each one. If you took out 3 loans, you might want to consider making one payment (paying it off) towards each company each month.

The quicker you get these paid off, the less the loan will be. Some companies will continue renewing the loans at $50/$100 or whatever each pay period. So if you get paid weekly, you'll end up paying the renewal fee of $200/$400 or whatever.

Have they tried doing an assignment of wages on you? You may also want to sent them a revoking of wage assignment certified to them. This will revoke whatever you signed and not allow them to take your paycheck.

Spoilbrat-- been exactly where you are now with Payday loans about 1 1/2 years ago. I closed my account. And it worked for the most part. I now have a lawsuit pending against a collection agency that harrassed me. I will tell you, once you default, get prepared for the collection nightmare to begin. However, what i did was deal with one at a time. Some loan companies are honest and only really charge you the loan amount plus bounced check fees--- and I would work out a payment plan to pay it down. once I paid off one, on to the other. I now have 2 left to pay off ( I think I had 12 out at one time).

I know its scary and you feel overwhelmed. You need to take control of your situation. Do research online on not only this board but other boards on how to handle collections, make yourself the educated person so you know what you need to do, what your rights are and how to handle this the best way.

Once i got the tools to handle collections, I stopped getting harrassed and some ran away. The collectors pray on your fear and self pity of being in debt and payday loans....

Good luck, truly truly!!!

Sub: #76 What can the payday company do legally ?

I have to be the queen of stupidity. Having been faced with unexpected financial crisis, I went to the hilt and ended up with 14 payday loans at one time totalling over $7000.00 in debt. I am now down to 7. I closed my checking account and moved it to a completely new bank. Some companies have been very nice in trying to help me get out of this. Sonicpayday has been pretty relentless. I will be paying them off this week. One company, ameriloan, says that I now owe them 810.00 when the original amount was only 250.00. What a rip off. The lady, Michelle Davis, told me that a complaint has been filed against me for check fraud. I did know enough to tell her that I knew that was bogus. I plan to pay only what I origianlly owed. If they don't accept that then they will get nothing. My question is, what can these companies do legally? Can they report to the credit bureau? Do any of them actually ever pursue judgement? I plan on writing to my state representatives to make them aware of this shady business and try to get state laws to crack down on these companies. I would encourage you all to do the same. NH has very lax usery laws. I plan on using my experience to be a voice in this state to help others avoid my mistakes!

Depending what state you live in they might could pursue it. Not in TX though, they cant do it. They can post it on your credit report. The best way to find out what they can do is to call your local DA office or look it up on their website.

dumberwithage43, ameriloan has added all sorts of unnecessary revolving and financial charges on your total loan amount of $250. Ask them to produce the complete break up of the account so that you can research on it.

Don't take their threatening of check fraud seriously. Some companies always use the same words to fear the people and ultimately harass them.

It sounds from your post that they are trying to misrepresent your account. This might mean that they are not legally holding your accounts. You can revert back and take necessary actions against them after they fail to validate the debt.

You can consult your attorney also for this purpose who will lead you to the right direction.

I received a phone call today from what I believe was a payday loan company. The caller left a message on my voicemail at work, claiming it would be in my best interest to return the phone call. The person however, left no company name. I called the number and the person who answered the phone just said "Good Afternoon this Chris, how may I help you?" I asked what is the name of the company and he claimed that there were "several" companies in the same office. He said if you give me some information, i can tell you what company. Nice try!! I told him I guess the call that I received isnt important since I cant get a name of a company and I also told him I wouldnt be giving any information over the phone. And hung up.

I tried to do a search on the number yet to no avail. Of course I forgot to bring the number home to share with everyone. But I wanted to make this post to help me remember to give out the number. Maybe someone out there will know who they are.
