Desperate from Alabama

Make a final try and I expect the lenders to be a bit co-operative this time. Do not talk to them over the phone. Send them a letter with a payment plan that you wish to pay each month. Also, you can send a check along with it and mention the point that if the check is cashed, you will consider that the plan has been accepted by them.

Most of the lenders are willing to work with the people when they have payments right in their hands. Once your plan gets accepted, do not default in the payments. This will hurt you in the long run and deprive you from all the available options.

Make a move with some hope and I prey that things work out nicely at your end. Please update us as things shape up.

Regards
Roxette

I've been waiting 3 months for CollectEdge, LLC to provide me with a confirmation that my debt has been paid. Everytime that I call I'm told that my confirmation letter is being sent.

The phone number that I have is 866-350-5696.

Federal law states that the collection agency is required to update your report with the credit bureaus after the debt is paid.

If necessary, contact a lawyer specializing in lawsuit of fdcpa violations and prevent from your credit file from being reported negatively.

desperate from alabama:

You said: "I contacted all 3 payday loans. One was very nice and said I could send what I could every month. The other two are going to press criminal charges."

I just want to let you know that they CANNOT do that. They may say they can, but honestly, there is nothing they can do legally aside from attempting to sue you for the balance due. They cannot press any type of criminal charges - for fraud, bad checks, or anything else. That is nothing more than a collection agency scare tactic, and it makes me sick to hear about it. Not paying a debt is NOT a criminal act and you cannot go to jail for it.

Lori - they are just trying to scare you. You CANNOT go to jail for not paying a debt. That is nothing more than a scare tactic. They cannot press any type of criminal charges against you.

Lori,

Ask the payday loan company to give you the statement of your past debt and then work out a payment arrangement. This is much easier than harassing you falsely.

In September I received an annoying amount of telephone calls from "elin-collectedge" stating I had two payday loans with them. I made a payment of $50 to get them off my back. In the meantime, I asked them to send me documentation as the payday loans I had taken out were paid in 2000. In October, I received a letter for one of the loans- but the collection agency was "accts receivable technology" and it was the same loan for the same amount. I spoke with a woman and she had no back up information regarding the loan she had-nor the payment i made. I have tried numerous times to reach collectedge- their number is busy- I got a local number and have tried to leave a message but the mailbox is full- how do I figure out what the heck is going on??????

Hi

I would also have gone furious if I some collection agency contacted me saying that I need to pay on an account which I have already paid in the past.

But before making any move, I will first check my credit report and see the latest standing of this account. I will check if any negative information has been posted in my file by this collection company.

Try CollectEdge at 866-350-5696 as this one seems to be working presently.

On the other hand, while you are dealing with 'accounts receivable technology', use your consumer rights as per the fdcpa and request for a debt validation. If they can produce a genuine DV, your account will be shown as paid.

Does anyone know about Interstate? I had a payday loan out, closed my account because of fraudlent activity. I tried to work something out with BMG, could not get anything from them, then ELIN, still no response. It went to ART, then I received calls from Interstate, threatening to come to my place of work, sobpoena my hard drive from my employer to embarrass me. I talked to ART, was told by them they were fraudlent. Can anyone help me with this. Interstate refuses to give me any information, just threats. I did find out they were in Florida. Any comments? Thanks, Beth

Do you have the phone number for Interstate? I tried doing a search on them, but there are several other companies out there with the same name. Even narrowing it down to Interstate Collections, 3 other companies came back.

Mike

Mike, thanks for the response. You cannot locate them anywhere the number I have for them is 866.225.4872. I talked to some "gentleman" this morning and he said he didn't have to give me an address, I told him if he was legit he would have no problem, they kept hanging up on me I kept calling back her response on the last call was was my address this and I replied yes, she said I would have an "invoice" within a few days, and I said it would contain their address so I could check out their company and she said yes. I have already filed a complaint with the FTC. I was told by them they couldn't get my hard drive from work. I left several messages and they won't call me back. ART said they wouldn't and not to deal with them.

It is very possible, that this is another Ellis Crosby & Associates. The girl who use to run the switchboard for Ted works at that number. I will never forget her accent/tone "how can I direct your call." For sure this company is located in Jacksonville, FL.

The next time they call you, tell them the call is being recorded, and that you have spoken with legal councel about trying to get validation of the company you are dealing with. Be sure to remain firm, and tell the caller that you wish all communication to be ceased, and to only correspond with you by mail. Also, if they're calling your work, tell them the call is being traced as well. Do you by chance have a local number showing up on your called ID. Either way, it's your phone and you run it. Show them who's boss!

Regards-
Mike
