Hello,
We've found you by googling the same number. My wife received a call from the people today asking for to speak to her sister. We have no idea how they got our number and why they think her sister lives here. When my wife asked the woman on the phone where she was calling from, she was told that the solicitor was legally unable to answer. Very weird |

Josh, debt collectors get the phone numbers by skip tracing i.e.. Checking the credit report or through other sources for getting the phone numbers of the person.
Call back the number and ask them to place the reason of the call. If your wife's sister owes some debt to them, request for a debt validation and verify each of the items. If there is no debt that is owed, your number should be removed from their system. Do your correspondences in writing through certified mail. You will have proof of all the facts. |

okay, the phone number that got this thread started by me, has stopped calling! great right!!?? but now I'm getting one that is 'unavailable'. It shows unavailable on the caller ID---but I have an answering service that tells you the number that they called from and it was 000-0020. and the guy just said 'hello'? and hung up. I know this is probably not a traceable number---just a hidden number for some CA. I'm not going to worry too much about it since they're hiding behind 'unavailable, and didn't show the respect of saying who they were or what they were calling for. shirley

David,
Thanks. But I work at a university with multiple locations and buildings and its own telephone services department, so I can't call up the phone company and ask that it be blocked. But I have notified telephone services so we'll see. I have continued to get these calls, and just now tried once again to talk to them and explain they will NEVER get that person at this number and again requested it be taken off their record. And again, they hung up on me mid-sentence. Classy. |

It is a Neilson public opinion company.. you know the tv ratings company, only the number is for movie opinion/viewing research.. at least that is what the answering machine said.

okay--This shouldn't be for me, its got to be the wrong number---which I had trouble with a while back, someone calling here looking for someone that I said doesn't live here. And it got pretty nasty. This person has went all over the place passing this number out as being theirs. Direct Tv amoung others. Anyways, I guess I will have to answer and find out who they're looking for---if its not us, I'll tell them they have the wrong number, if it is us, then I'll send them a cease letter for calling my private number. Its not listed so it almost has to be the wrong number. anyways, I'll come back and ask for the address if they continue to call. thanks again JJ!!! hugs, shirley

Shirley, even if it is not for you, send them a C&D letter stating the facts.. just in case they don't listen to you

I believe this is the name of these people. I am getting calls because of the person that had the number before me. I have been trying for over a year now to get them to stop calling. I have asked two different reps to stop them and have explained that the person they are looking for is no longer at this number (they can check my number and easily see that it is the wrong address/name) and yet they still call. I have verbally asked to be taken off their list and yet they still keep calling even on the weekends. Can someone tell me how to turn them into the FCC or whatever agency would apply?
