Shirley, did you get some information in the call placed from this number? I have not found any information on this number yet. I am searching on it and will let you know.

Hope if anyone else has experience with the company using that number.

okay--that is the number that my caller ID picks up when they call. They leave another number when they leave their automated message. When I call this number back, I get another automated voice saying 'hold the line' it is important that we speak to you. BUT they do not identify themselves.

Heres the number they leave on my answering machine
866-716-9863

if you can come up with anything on this, please let me know. thank you so much!! shirley

I believe these are computer generated number. No specific information is available on these numbers online. I think you will have to wait for some time and get someone in person.

The calls from these numbers might become harassing. Contact your telephone exchange and they might try to block this number.

thanks Ben. I'm pretty sure that they're from 'oxford' and they're the ones that call once a day-every day-seven days a week. I am going to research it some more. If so, these people have been told NOT to call. I have been saving every phone call and documenting the date and time of every call. thanks again, shirley

Legally speaking, it will be quite tough to prove the violation of the cease and desist letter sent to Oxford unless you hear a live person(if it is from Oxford)

I think you should take suggestion from your telephone exchange also. We had a discussion on such blocked numbers in this forum sometime back. Hope this helps you.

If anyone can get a mailing address or something, I would appreciate it. This company is making illegal phone calls. They are calling a business number, for a person who no longer works here. I have been yelled at, told off, etc. by their "reps" and cannot get them to remove the number from their database.

Linda,

Ask for the supervisor when they call again. Explain the fact to the supervisor, it might work. Keep us updated on this matter.

Hi Linda! Please send a cease and desist letter to the company at their mailing address. This will be your legal move that will stop all these calls coming to you. After the company has received your cease and desist letter, they are restricted from contacting you further unless to notify you of any further legal actions.

Send your letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. A date will appear in your return receipt and you will be able to prove your actions taken on the specified date. You can contact your attorney and file charges against the company if they violate this federal law.

Are you saying that because they're using an automative system, that they can possibly get away with ignoring my request to stop all phone calls? That this gives them an edge to get away with it because its harder for me to prove? This would explain the automative calls and then when I call the number back, it is also automative. They're being slick. And now since the new year has begun, calls have moved up to being twice a day instead of just once.

I will check with my phone company about blocking the number, but it would seem to me, that people that are as 'slick' as what these people think they are, they'll just start calling from another number.
thanks, shirley

Shirley, it might be possible that some companies use automated systems to hide their identities. The court will ask for proof when you are filing a case against them. Until, you have a proof, you can't be able to take legal actions against them.

Take the help of your phone company and get this number blocked. Seek advice from an attorney as well.

real slick aren't they?

again, as I have read so many times in this forum, if the debt is legit, then why won't a collection agency ( no certain one) validate and why do they play little games and hide behind numbers and such. If its legit, then they shouldn't have to go through all of this, just produce validation, if the debtor doesn't co-operate after that, then proceed with legal procedures. no games. I think its simple, they go through all of this, because they can't. just my opinion.

no need to respond Ben, just thinking out loud. lol
I will get in touch with my phone company. thanks for your help!

shirley

Hi,
My wife and I have received numerous messages from this rediculous number. I am intent on locating the company, if one even exists. So far, no luck on toll-free directories.

I have a suspicion that this number is intended to entice people to subscribe to online information services that require fees. One of the Google hits for the number is SoundCloseouts.com (an advertiser) which then leads to a another website called reverserecords.org I highly discourage anyone from subscribing as this only encourages their unprofessional behavior.
