Sub: #161 Closed account vs Open account?
Replied on 06-26-2007, 11:17 AM

I paid off my Palisades debt 3 years ago. They weren't so bad to deal with then, but now, years later, my credit report shows a $0.00 balance, but still shows that it is an OPEN account on Equifax, and a closed account on Experian and Transunion. It is still affecting my Equifax score. What the heck do i do now? I disputed through Equifax, and they just wrote back and said that they verified it, and it would not change. What now?

Hi Knine
Send a debt validation letter to True Logic asking them to validate that you actually owe them over $300. Until and unless they validate the debt by sending you a proof of the debt or a copy of a judgment from the original creditor, do not pay them a single penny.

Tracy the complete account number is not needed for a dispute or validation. You only need to inform them of your name and address.

Just received a letter in my mailbax today, Trying to find out who this collection is? Palisades says I owe $2,763.89.
I don't owe a telephone service. my creditor is Platinum/Providian Bank.
Which I did have a credit card from providian 6 years ago, which I made a onetime settlement. I went thru a divorce and had some hard times. how could they come back on me in 6 years?
What should I do?. I don't know if I have my cancel checks for then.
thanks,
Annie
