I purchased a 4 wheeler through suzuki for my boyfriend at the time who promised to make the payments- big mistake. When we broke up he took the 4 wheeler back to suzuki and said he didn't want it anymore. It was purchased with a suzuki credit card and the debt has been turned to palisades who has put on my credit report that I owe the full $5000 for it. Is there a way to get this resolved and show that the atv was returned? Or will I have to settle with this collection agency? I don't think it's fair that Suzuki gets their 4 wheeler back and I still have to pay them for the full cost of the thing.

You should request validation of the debt (use the one in my signature) send it certified mail, return receipt requested. This will also force them to give you a break down of all charges via official documentation.

I am writing on my fiances behalf. He had a collection with Palisades on his credit report from a very old AT&T bill. Last year, the collection was removed from his credit report because seven years had passed. Now, a year later, the collection has shown back up on his credit report.

We were both under the impression that after seven years "bad" credit was removed from your credit report and could not be placed on your report again.
Were we wrong? Also, can we dispute this? We are planning on buying a new house in the not too distant future, and I can't imagine this will help us any.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

That is correct..after 7 years it can not come back on unless you make a payment on it. What is the date on it now? I would immediately dispute this with the CRAs, send them a copy of your old reports showing the drop off date.

Jselensky: even if the four wheeler was returned, you still owe. The sales contracts you signed no doubt said that you would pay for the four wheeler. Ask the dealer what amount it was resold for. Normally, you should owe only the difference between what you paid, and the resale price.

Sub: #246 debt validated?

I had checked my credit report about 6months ago and had seen palisades collection for an AT&T account from way back 2002 saying I owed $475. Well I sent a debt validation letter an they took 5months but they sent me this big envelope with just copies of bills from about 3 months of the cell phone account. Looking it over, I have no idea how they came up with $475. The last copied bill they sent me had a balance of about $580. Is this a true debt validation? If it is, then yes I will pay. Or is it better to try an see if AT&T has it still and if I can pay directly through them?

If you can still work with the original creditor go for it. As far as what validation may consist of check out the validation letter via the first link in my signature for more on that.

I had already sent in a debt validation letter. But what they sent me back was just a copy of 3 bill months (feb, march, april) and that was it. is that enough for them to validate it? because i dont think so but i could be wrong.

Palisades had been calling me from 866-230-8075 every day. When I would try calling the number back, I would get an operator error message. I knew they had the wrong number because I have no reason to be called by a collection agency. After fishing around online and by phone, I was finally able to get through to someone at 800-414-8319. They told me who they were calling for (not me) so I asked them to take my name/number off their list. The man was actually rather polite, appologized and told me they would remove me right away. (Hopefully they actually do.)

I've been receiving automated voicemails from a company named Palisades every night. Actually the voicemail starts off with..."Our office hours are...Eastern Time", without ever introducing the caller's name. Then it comes in Spanish, which fortunately I could understand. The Spanish message says that it is "Palisades" and that "this is not a solicitation..."

I usually ignored it, but got curious last night and called the 800 number that registered on my cell phone, using another phone...and found out that it is "Palisades Collection" in New Jersey.

I searched in the internet and found this forum. I've taken good care of my credit and find no reason why I should be getting a call from this agency. I am in California and have not received any mail from this Palisades. And reading the above posts alarm me.

Please help...What should I do next? Thanks!

Call and see what they want. Chances are they have the wrong person.

I agree. Take the simple solution first! If that does not work you will have to write! But call first!

I received a letter this week from Palisades Collection agency stating that there is a debt for verizion. This debt goes back to 2000. I recently bought a house and this agency wasnt on my credit report any more. Now I fear that it will re appear. Can they do that? The same thing happened with Pressler and Pressler because they are charging me now with a debt from 1999. I am paying it now and I am almost done but I dont want to go through this again with this other credit agency. Now when I pulled my credit report Pressler and Pressler is on it. But prior to this my credit report was impeccable. Please help...

Once a debt is removed from your credit report, it cannot be reinserted (normally) if the CRB were to reinsert it the CRB and the creditor could get in a lot of trouble. Pressler and Pressler is not known to play by the rules so they probably committed a big FCRA no-no on that one.
