Palisades- waiting to pay
ok, so my Providian (now Wachovia) account was charged off at 10,000. (watch out for so called 'debt reduction' companies, was screwed over there!!)
Now PALISADES wants to settle for 6k and I have the letter that has the settlement amount on it and states that they will mark it paid in full within 45 days of the received check with the credit beaurus. Has anyone received the letter, paid it then Palisades didnt remove it from their credit rating within 60 days? I'm afraid to give them a dime but want to get this done and over with. All help is greatly appreciated. There is SO much bad stuff out there on them. |

Not really sure, at the very least they would have to report it as settled, otherwise they would be reporting inaccurate information.

Palisades CA
I have been trying to get a Palisades Collection account off of my credit report. The origination of debt was sometime in 2001 or 2002 and was paid on time. The account was with AT&T and I received a collection notice from another collection company in 2004 and disputed it with them but AT&T just resold it to Palisades. I have been unsuccessful, and treated like a homeless street urchin, when trying to get account history documentation from AT&T. Today I have been redirected to three different phone numbers for Palisades, and disconnected once. AT&T refuses to send me my account records, stating that I should have kept my own records. I had not heard anything about this account having a problem and had switched cell companies two years prior to receiving my first collection notice. I did not keep my AT&T records longer than 6 months as there was no reason to. What are my options?
This company (Palisades) is great at sending me in circles with no answers received. Stephanie |

Cycoman702 is correct, you should send them a debt validation letter (you can find a good template via my signature) be sure to send the enclosure with it, certified mail, return receipt requested. By federal law, upon receipt they must cease all collection activity until they provide the requested documentation.

Palisades CA is very bad and so is the its user ATT, or even worse. Sometime ago Palisades CA sent me an ATT bill, I responded promptly explaining the issue. I was expecting to get a response from Palisades CA, but you know what? They just pretend did not receive anything from me and silently damaged my credit!! I just don't understand why there is nothing we can do about it!

If you requested validation of the debt they cannot legally file trade lines on your credit report as it is considered collection activity, thus violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Welcome to the forum deon. Did they file suit against you? If so did they serve you with a summons/civil complaint?

Palisades...
I had a similar very old debt reporting as Collections on two out of three CRA's and one they were reporting as an OC... I did an untimely DV for the three... The two reporting as Collections have dropped off, the one as an OC is still reporting... The CRA reports that they are still waiting for Palisades to report back to them. I am just keeping my fingers crossed...

If they don't validate the account then it will have to be removed as inaccurate information.

Palisades Problems
i am having a nitemare. last week i was contacted by one of these scammers and thank goodness i caught them. but when i was looking through my credit report i noticed that i debt i paid last year to a wolpoff and abramson that was collecting for palisades collections, had filed a judgement against me last year. i had no idea this took place. i filed a dispute with my credit bureaus and this week, wolpoff and abramson are calling my work asking for employment verification. i'm afraid that now they are trying to garnish my wages on an acct that i already paid for. if those sneaky sob's went behind my back and went to court without sending me a subpeona i wouldn't put it past them to do this. any ideas anyone??? i'm afraid i open a can of worms here....

lesa - can you provide more details about exactly what you need help with? Is Palisades Collection taking you to court? And if so, for what?
