Be sure that Palisades has legitimate purpose to hit your credit file. Collections hurt the credit scores severely. You should not allow an incorrect reporting hurt your ratings. Contact Palisades at 201-567-5648 and inquire about the account. They need to send the details of the debt in writing before you make a payment. If they don't come up with any genuine information, explain the situation to the CRA and put it on dispute. The item will be likely removed after investigating the matter

JC, do you have the receipts of the payments done to Palisades? If you have paid through your bank, there will be a proof of it in the statement. Consult your attorney with proof. Palisades has to update your file if they have received the money from you.

Here is another mailing address for Palisades Collection, L.L.C.
P.O. Box 1274
Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632-0274

They have sent me letters citing that they have purchased this account from the original creditor, AT&T Wireless. And that as the assignee, they have all rights, title, and interest of the assignor. After I wrote them a letter stating that my AT&T account had been closed a few years ago, they sent a letter stating that I needed to prove that in writing by May 13, 2006. After researching this company online and finding so many complaints I will now respond requesting a debt validation, and I will be checking my credit scores on a routnine basis.

I sent a validation request with a DO NOT CALL paragraph but it hasn't stopped these morons from calling. In fact I have now sent a total of 3 letters - 2 to their P. O. Box number and 1 to their physical address 210 Sylvan Avenue, Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632. The 1st and 3rd letter were signed for but while they rec'd notice of the 2nd they never picked it up. Still they continue to call over a debt that is not mine. I've read in other replies that when sued they deny getting notices and making calls so how exactly do you prove your case if you sue?

The cards may have signatures but in both cases they are illegible so you can't for sure say "who" signed for them or for that matter if who did sign used their real name. As for the calls, I have them on my caller id but my phone will only hold so many and short of taking the phone to court how do you prove they continue to make the calls?

How do I find an attorney that can help me with pallasades collection. They have put a negative mark on my credit for a debt that was paid. I submitted proof of payment along with a desist letter. Not only have they ignored my letters but they refuse to update my credit report. I have reported this to the credit reporting agencies and have still not received any help. How do I find an attorney that specializes in this and how do we get this company shut down for illegal practices?

You can locate some lawyers in your state offering free legal aid. Check out this link for more information.

When you have proof of the debt paid and the CRA taking long time to update your credit report and not providing sufficient reasons, talk to a lawyer for some advice. He will help you out in filing a case for fdcpa and FCRA violations against the companies responsible for it.

hi i was just reading your message on palisades and why they do not offer setlements/let me tell u i am an ex employee of palisades and they are very unfair kuniving people, they want as much money as they can without offering any settlement, the only thing they were able to do is give a lousy 5% off and if account was over a thousand dollars than we were aqble to negotiate settlements, but even with that that has to go through a main manager to approve the settlement, palisades collection is just 1 big rip off plus they sell bad debts to other agencys, and they also carry alot of bad debts with them and r still illegally collecting them,i fell they shold b reproted and nothing happens to them ever. so my advice to you, if you want any kind of settlement make sure your credit report rating is bad because thats they only way youd get accepted, they pull a credit bureau report on you and make the determination that way, wich i find unfair beacuse if some one calls in to pay thier debt i believe they should be offered some sort of settlement, just thought id share a few secrets thaty palisades holds up thier sleeve, please contact me if you want more info

I have never bought nothing from helig meyers I told them they had the wrong person, they gave me no validation letter but wanted me to send them a copy of my social security # I refused. I now have a court date for august in small claims court. Could i sue them for false accusations and mental anquish.

Definitely, you can sue such collection agencies for false representation of your accounts. Check your credit report to confirm if they have entered any derogatory remark. The company must prove this debt to be a legitimate one before any legal actions are decided against you. If they fail to give the necessary details, I wonder if they will take the matter to the court. I am sure this could be a case of mistaken identity. Do you have the receipt of the debt validation letter sent to their mailing address? You need to show this receipt at the court and prove your part of the responsibility. Palisades mostly has accounts that are disputed. You need to confirm if the debt belongs to you before making any payment arrangements with them.

jsinc, dispute with the credit bureau highlighting the item. Turn back the pages of this thread for more information about this disputed account. If you never had an AT&T account, you are not responsible in paying it. Do it in writing through certified mail. This will put to your records. Palisades needs to validate the debt as have hit your credit file. If they can't give you the information, take legal steps forcing them to remove the item from your file.

KatywithaK

As per the statutes in Texas and in all other states, the collection agency or the creditor can collect the debt legally as long as it is within the SOL period. This period is calculated from the date of last activity taken place in your accounts. If it is past the 4 years period as per the Texas statutes, they cannot put you in legal troubles. This doesn't stop them from filing a case in the court, but a SOL notification sent to the company will put you out of any legal problems. If you are sure that the SOL has expired on your account, send a letter in writing mentioning the expiry of statutes. Send it through certified mail with return receipt requested.
