Community discussion - Palisades Collection is not cooperating!

Guest says...
Yesterday we received a summons letter from an attorney saying that we are being sued by Palisades Collections, this is the first I have heard about it, and am now wondering if they knew my address WHY they didn't send a notice or bill before taking such drastic action, is this even legal? After looking online and reading all of the awful reports saying that this company is running “scams” I am afraid, and I just don't know what to do!

I had AT&T and it was horrible. They told me to keep the phone for 30 days and if I did not like it to return it and I would owe nothing. It was terrible. I kept calling and complaining about the service but they kept telling me to keep the phone and it would get better. After my month was up I told the guy that I just did not want the phone anymore as I could not get out on it.. He stated it was too late as I had gone over my 30 days. I told him I would not pay. Now I found out even after I have a statement on my credit file that they have the upper hand and that if I do not pay Palisades that I can not get any credit anymore....This sucks. I am gonna call and see if they will take a lesser amount than what is on my credit file as it includes a $200.00 early cancellation fee. Please advise. Thanking you in advance.

Palisades is reporting my collections with them was opened on 2/1/2005. It was for an AT&T account which I paid in June, but which was with another agency before then (an agency that was attempting to collect twice as much as I owed). AT&T didn't even still exist in 2005! The thing is, I already requested debt validation once from Palisades, and like I said, I already paid. I'm wondering what I can do now? I also already disputed this debt with Experian, a dispute which came back "verified." I just want the date corrected so this won't be on my account for another six years, since I think I got the phone in 2005. And I want to do anything I can do to punish them for mis-reporting this. But I'm not sure how I go about any of this...

I requested debt validation and got documents showing I owed some remaining charges on my phone, but I don't have those around anymore because I didn't anticipate further problems (since the debt was clearly mine--well, not clearly, but more clearly than the initial charge for twice as much that included things I definitely didnt buy).

i can't believe these people are allowed to conduct business. they pulled my credit report and knowingly mailed the letters to an old address. this address was over 6yrs old. then when i told them i wasn't properly notified of such debt they told me that they aren't going to be remailing these documents all over the place. i then requested to speak to a supervisor who gave me a completely different answer. told me that they wouldn't settle the account and told me two weeks ago that they would remail the documents. i still haven't received them. i will send my request by mail, cc the bbb, consumer affairs and all 3 credit bureaus. and to boot they call my house everyday and leaves messages on my phone. thanks for the info.

I had received some bills from them regarding an at&t bill i had not had the money to pay it at the time and list and address to contact them and also had no bill. About 6 months after i spole to them i was served a subpoena to go to court for this. I agreed to $10 week with 12% interest. In stead of going down it is going up. With the interest charge can i turn this over to a credit counseling compny cos it will never get paid off and i dont understand why its going up instead of down.

I received a supposedly "validation" for AT & T. I don't have a cell phone, the debt is on my credit report, and I'm not paying a bill I don't owe. Why is AT & T allowing this company to degrade them? I had respect for AT & T who has just taken over our local phone service. I might just completely get out of phone service. I don't have anyone to call anyway and I could save some money. Does AT & T have an e-mail address? Maybe they don't know what Palisades is doing to their name.

I also have an unfavorable report from Pallisades on my otherwise FLAWLESS credit report. The first collection agency agreed with me after I sent a letter detailing my dispute. AT&T wireless is just as guilty as Pallisades for trying to rip me off in the first place.

I also have another one on my report and want to get it permanently removed but I can figure out how to do it. If anyone knows please email me @ email address removed as per forum rules - Mike

collection agencies are crooks? No way! Cant be! Collcetion agents are the most honest people on the planet... next to crack dealers and theives.

Dont worry Gretzky, youll get it sorted out but it will take some time and alot of effort on your part. Once you prove that the fradulent entries are from the collection agency they will be deleted off your credit report.

I too am being scamed by Palisades. I went to the bank to take out money today and found our accounts frozen. Seems a junction was filed in court against me and I was never notified. After calling the lawyers for Pal. I was told I owed $3600 for an account at AT&t that I never had and the paperwork was going to an address I never had lived in. Major phone calls to their lawyers and AT&T got me no where. They are stealing my money as we speak!Has anyone had it go this far? How did you stop it..

Hi Guys,

I too have been harassed be this company. I'm rarely home to answer my phone and I am on the “National Do Not Call List" I kept seeing this number on my caller ID and no messages left. Then I started getting calls on the weekends, and late at night, along with scare tactics. I say (seeing all of the complaints) that we get together and form a class action lawsuit against them. I you're interested, Email me Mike Gaynor at GaynocoAcquisitions(at)Tampabay.rr.com

These people are calling me about an alleged credit card dept from 1990. They can't verify it, and won't, it’s almost like extortion. I feel sorry for those who have paid, just to get them off of their back. The statute to collect is blown anyway in my case. I have no clue what it is. I know it's not Valid, because in 1990 I was in college and I had no credit cards.

Let’s get together and put them out of business.

Anyone please feel free to Email me anytime. If I get enough response I’ll have my attorney sue this company and try to get class action status.

Sincerely yours,

Michael A. Gaynor

Hi everyone. I need some advice/help. I'm sorry in advance if this gets long. I will try to be as short as I can.

Wife has a Palisades collection from 2000 from AT&T we JUST found out, wife has NEVER had AT&T, where she was living at the time they did not have AT&T service, and she did loose her purse around that time, so we filled an ID Theft report with the FTC, and with all 3 bureaus, and a police report, NOW, what do I need to do about Palisades???

The FTC says I need to call them and find out what they need from my wife to provide to them to prove it was ID theft. She don't wanna call these idiots! She's afraid it may start something, right now Palisades is ONLY reporting it on her TransUnion report, but nothing else, and she fears they will report it to the others if we call them. Any advice?

Also, we are in MN, the reason why she has never heard from Palisades, is that in the state of MN, a CA must be licensed with the Minnesota Department of Commerce (gotta love our Attorney General) and Palisades isnt! So they legally cannot call my wife, BUT, TrueLogic Financial is registered, and they have called my wife a number of times regarding this, so I'm guessing is that even though Palisades has the collection, they have the company they partner with, TrueLogic, do all the collecting. Am i right on this?
