Hi Lisa
Welcome to the forums.
Palisades Collection llc phone number is included in the list of bad collection agencies. They are not listed with the BBB and many consumer complaints have been filed against them. They might have purchase one of your bills from AT&T.
As per the fdcpa laws, a collection agency is required to send the details of the debt in writing at your mailing address. If they have not sent you any letter, send a debt validation letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. Cover your basis by making the move from your side. You can legally refuse to pay the debt until Palisades sends you the details.
Keep a check on your credit report and see if Palisades has hit your file negatively. No collection agency should report anything in your credit file with legitimate reasons. If they are shown in your file, you need to take necessary actions to maintain your credit ratings. Please read the experience of one of our members with this company. Many others posts on Palisades collection agency are available in this forum. You will have a better understanding on how to deal with this company.

Also, you can stop the demanding calls altogether. Just send them a letter in writing asking them to cease communications with you. You are actually asking them to stop sending you letters and to stop calling you. Under the law, the collection company must abide by your request. They can get sued if they don't.

Also, You can sue if they violated the law while contacting you. First off, they are not allowed to contact you at an unreasonable time (after 9pm). If they made these demanding calls at an unreasonable hour, then you can sue them.

Also, these companies are not allowed to threaten you when the make their calls. If they threaten you, then they could get sued. So there are some key restrictions to how these companies can contact you.

You should not feel like you have to sit back and take these demanding phone calls from this company. Especially since you say that you already have taken care of these debts. You should get rid of this nuisance immediately

Default Help!!!!!!

I recently applied for a home loan and Palisades Collection Agency showed up on my credit report, which was very shocking because I just pulled my credit report in June and it was flawless. They are saying that I opened and closed an account on the same day in June 2001 and charged it over $1500, but I never heard of this company. This account was reported to this collection agency in December 2005, just days before I applied for a home loan. I was and still am devastated. I was a college student living on campus in June 2001 and had no need for a separate telephone bill or any other bill for that matter. I'm very thankful for all of this information I've received from the posted forums in this website. Atleast I know where to start investigating.

Hi Gamecock Fan

Palisades Collection Agency is ruining your credit file if they have hit your file fraudulently. Look for their address and phone number in your credit report. Send a letter to them asking for explanation of this account. Federal laws allow you to get a debt validation of this account from the company.

Once the company has received your debt validation request, they will present the details of the debt in writing including the details of your original creditor. Check the details and if it is found correct, make payment arrangements with them. If you think the details shown are incorrect, send a dispute letter to the company. Send all your letters through certified mail with return receipt requested. The company will verify the disputed item with your original lenders and give results of the investigation done. They simply can't attach a line called 'item verified.' They have to prove you that the details have been posted correctly.

If you don't get any results of the dispute from Palisades, send copies of all your correspondence done with the company to the credit bureau reporting this account. Dispute with them and request for verification. They will investigate the matter with the collection agency and the creditor. If your dispute is found correct, the negative item will be removed from your file and you will be sent an updated copy of your credit report free of cost.

This removal of the negative item will give you the chance to file charges against the collection agency for fraudulently reporting and hurting your credit file. Consult a lawyer and take legal actions against them. Hope this is helpful to you.

Palisades Collection LLC is a collection agency that deals with AT&T accounts. I disputed with AT&T when the debt was theres and now I'm disputing it with Palisades as well. The very first time I got a letter from them, I responded with a validation request and a DO NOT CALL paragraph. They didn't bother me again. I got a letter from them last week stating that they were going to send me validation that could take up to 90 days. First they said they had purchased the account, then turned around and said they were working it, all in the same sentence! I'm not sure they know what they're doing. Will wait and see what they dig up after their 90 days. Shirley

Maryellen

Along with disputing with Palisades Collections, you can also verify this item with the CRA. They will also conduct an investigation with this CA. If your dispute is found correct, this item will be removed from your file and you will be sent a free copy.

However, if you are served with accurate details of this debt owed, you will have to pay it in order to improve your credit ratings.

I cant believe how many people are having problems with this collection agency and nothing has been done yet! Today I searcehd and came across this number 201-567-5648 I was able to speak with a palisade rep but they told me it had been sold to a place called True Logic Financial, I called there and Diputed it . Long story short , I faxed them a dispute letter and also reported it to the credit bureaus Tranunion, experian and equifax and I put a allert on my credit. I dont know how to solve this one and regret ever having ATT! Please Reply and Help if you know what to do! Thanks

Along with your dispute sent through fax, you should also send it through certified mail with return receipt requested. Suppose the CA takes the matter to the court forcing you to pay the debt, your defense will be backed by your proof of your dispute. You have to prove the judge with the date on which you sent your dispute. A fax will not prove the required truth. So, it will be better to send your mail certified with return receipt requested. You will be able to show the green copy with the signature of the CA at the court.

The CRA and the Palisades CA will have to show you the results of their investigation within 30 days. If they fail to give you the necessary information about this account, it should be removed from your file. As per the FCRA, no agency is allowed to keep negative information in your file without legitimate purpose. If it happens, you might have to consult an attorney specializing in the lawsuits of fdcpa and FCRA violations.
