Hi forum friends!
The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived! Not only did I just interview well with TruGreen-ChemLawn and am about to be hired, but my current place of employment Protocol Recovery Services, is closing it's Pensacola office. It will be official on March 24th.
The company is offering transitional help, such as letters of recommendation, resume help, unemployment coverage, and higher incentives for those who want to stay with the company but commute to either Atlanta or Panama City, there will be no Great Depression for those of us at the office.
Now I finally have something more positive and dignified to work with. Lawn conditioning, I remember how that stuff flew off the shelves at Home Depot. I have no doubt that this is a good beginning for my Marketing career. It also feels so good not to have to be a collector anymore!

Thanks girlfriend! I'm so stoked! This also pays a lot better! Better base salary and I can feel good rather than guilty about the commissions on top!

Good to hear from you, Ari on your new job. So, will you be working from Pensacola only or do you have to go to some other place?

Hi guys! The second interview went rockin'! I've got the job! My manager (who is only 22) would like me to start this coming Monday, but he understands my intent to go gracefully from Protocol in spite of the heckling and the ass-hat I recieved this morning!
My boss called me into his office and ripped me a new one yet again! He attacked my work ethic because I got up to wash the coffeepot so it could be used to heat tea water for everyone, and while I was up I made a bathroom run. To him that's too many breaks, never mind that I don't take 15 minute breaks because I don't smoke or go to vending machines.I was also attacked for spending more time skiptracing than calling people who have already heard my voice on their answering machine many times and it is unlikely they will call back. Never mind that I was trying to find new money for the company before it closes its doors. I left his office feeling heckled, insulted, and harassed. How do you like that? A collection manager harassing his own collector!
Anyway, the Pensacola branch of TruGreen-Chemlawn services an area that covers a 45 minute driving radius around the office, so it touches into Alabama and Georgia a little bit. The company pays for gas and I can write off mileage and car maintenance.
I really should start Monday. Both my husband and the hiring manager at ChemLawn share the same opinion that my boss's attack on me and even on ChemLawn was very unprofessional and that I should have just quit on the spot.
I can barely contain my excitement!

by the way. Sassy pic Shirley! Keep them coming and don't be surprised if you find yourself completely out of the money pit soon because of a modeling career!

Ari,
I was a HR manager for many years, and the one thing I aways admired, was those who wanted to work out a notice at thier current job. When someone leaves my employment and tells me that they cant give notice, because thier new employer said that they needed them now,its really makes me wonder about thier work ethic. But in your case Ari,you should not feel any remorse in leaving without notice. If you are being harassed and unappreciated by your boss,he deserves nothing from you.You deserve better, your boss deserves what he gets.

Alright! That's a third person who concurs!
It's such a case of mixed feelings, mostly because the manager can be so unpredictable. One moment he's gregarious and humouring the entire office, next moment we're all getting chewed out and guilt trips. I was treated with generosity and hospitality upong my arrival at the agency, recently I've been getting ding'd for something or another just about every day!

Well, at least it sounds like he is in the right field!
IMO, no one deserves to be treated like that. Tell the joker to kiss your heiny, take a long weekend and start your new job on Monday!

Ari, Since the law requires no notice, you are obligated only by your own loyalty and sense of duty. From what you have described, you owe them neither. Ask your self this...if at some point prior to your getting a new job they had decided to fire you.. would you have been given 2 weeks? one week? You owe them nothing, and as should not feel obligated to give them more than you would expect them to give you. I have been on all sides of this issue from the employer and employee side and all that really matters is that you do it with class. Politely pack up your things, and say this is it. i am done, haev a nice life goodbye.
good luck
