Bethany, stick to your move. You should not pay anything until Prelitigations send the details in writing. You need to know the name of the company for which they are collecting. Apart, you can get in touch with the original company and work out arrangements with them if the debt is legitimate.

I called an attorney's office in FL today who has been handling cases for people against Ellis Crosby and Prelitigations of America. I was told that Prelitigations of America has filed for bankruptcy. They cannot have you arrested. At this point, I don't know if they can even try to collect from you legally. As with many of you, they refuse to provide me with a mailing address or even validate my "debt".

If they've only filed for bankruptcy in FL, does that affect people in other states theyre harassing? How would I find out if they're legally still allowed to try and collect debts?

Ash, the state attorney general office in your area will be able to tell if the company is allowed to do legal collections in the state after filing bankruptcy.

They have struck again and this time they are using the telephone number 1-800-435-9660 if this information can be helpful that is why when I heard the investigations department I immediately hung up. And also there is a guy or gal named Sandy so beware they are at it again.
