I would NOT recommend these people to anyone. First of all they are Not Debt Consolidators they are Attorneys and they use your money as a savings account. I have been taken for about $2500.00 to $3000.00. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Florida and Ohio Attorney General offices. Good luck

I am also looking into debt consolidation with Hess Kennedy. Does anyone know how this will affect credit ratings? Is this considered a bankruptcy? I cannot find anything on BBB about them.

debt consolidation puts a much better view than bankruptcy. All the accounts included in the program will be shown as current in your credit report. When one of the accounts gets paid off, the creditors will update it with the bureaus leading to an increase in the credit scores. Later, you can use that money to pay off the other accounts in the program. If you register in this website, a counselor from your area will call you for free credit counseling. You can discuss your repayment options with him before signing the contract.

To Got Taken...I signed my 87 year old mother up with Hess Kennedy - I called consumer credit counseling number and it forwarded to them...we too have paid in approximately $2,000.00 - according to the credit card companies - there has been no contact by Hess Kennedy ... I call them every week to discuss the account - I'm not feeling good about what is going on.

Hi Jeannierg7

Do you have the contract in writing with Hess Kennedy? You must call them and take the help of your attorney in order to resolve this matter. Is the amount paid by you posted towards the credit card accounts?

I am now dealing with them and I also could not find info on them at the BBB. I have been constantly harassed by the creditors for their money. Hess Kennedy told me they sent them a temporary power of attorney form. That was now 4 months ago,I called them and they sent me cease call notices. I read somewhere this is not a good idea. Some one who has dealt with them please let me know if I shoul continue with them or what should I do?

I am very upset with Hess Kennedy. After our initial phone conversation I decided not to pursue. I called them back a few days later. No response. I called 2 more times and no response. I never sent the papers back but they still took my money. I also sent a certified letter which was also ignored. Sending me 6 pieces of paper that are in a computer does not warrant such high attorney fees. Think before you jump into anything with this company.

Got Taken,

We are available M-F from 830am to 530pm at the number above.

You were far behind on your bills and being harrassed by creditors. The program you chose was a lawyer debt settlement. We will have your debt negotiated to 55 percent of your balances including ALL legal fees.

Your money is not in a savings account. It is in a trust account and we are negotiating the best settlement possible. We are trying to get some to settle for as low as 20 cents on the dollar.

Please call our office immediately and we will pull your file. We will show you all the offers we currently have and what work has been done on your account. We are not sitting back and relaxing here.

If you do not want settlement anymore we can put you with our 501 (c)(3) credit counseling program and get you paid at lower interest rates monthly. That was not the program you chose when you signed paperwork. Please call us so we can help you get this taken care of.

Our clients are very important to us and we need you to please call in.

My experience with CCCA/Hess Kennedy was not a good one either. Hopefully all has been resolved and I no longer need to worry.

My story is in the forum titled "Thumbs down for CCCA/Hess Kennedy.

I signed up with ccca in february 2006. As of this date (8/7/06) not one of my six creditors has even received a letter from ccca or hess kennedy. I have had three accounts to charge off. I was told by these people to not talk to my creditors. Now i know why. I have paid 232.00 a month faithfully and my credit is worse than if i had continued the way i was! An employee of ccca told me last week that she signed up with hess kennedy in april. I told her she should call her creditors because she is probably is the same boat as me. Every time i called their office i was given a different story of what was going on with my account, when in all actuality it had not been touched. This experience has been a horror story for me!

I am so glad I did not sign a contract with CCCA/Hess Kennedy. That would have been the worst possible route for me to take in terms of getting my financials in order. My experience with them was terrible and I had not even signed a contract with them yet. In the end I did not. The company I'm working with now is wonderful and "so far so good".

Hess Kennedy are frauds.

They allowed Consumer credit counseling of America to deliberatly misrepresent their consult fee and after telling me I didn't owe them anything, they automatically withdrew money from my account anyway!

Now, even after calling, emailing and writing them they refuse to refund my money.

They are an unethical and irresponsible company and I HIGHLY suggest you stay away.

Maria, I too am ready to place a cal to Hess Kennedy and need the number. Call your counselor (mine is at Credit Exchange) to get the number.
The reason I'm calling is that I have never received any statements and they have been collecting nearly $500 a month for 4 months now. I'm getting a little anxious aout where my money's going.

I am so confused. I just started working with H&K and after reading ypur concerns, i'm now afraid the decision I made. Why are they not with the BBB? Why is our money in a Trust account? What is a Trust account? Does this mean that our creditors aren't gonna get paid? Why would CCC refer us to lawyers that aren't even in the BBB? I hope that we aren't getting screwed. Can anyone go into to detail a little more about why they aren't happy with H&K? Does anyone have anything positive to say at all about H&K? Please Reply! Thank you!

I know how you are feeling. Talk to HK directly because every situation is different. I have heard good feedbacks about them also amidst all the negative ones. Besides, the attorneys of HK have clarified some of the consumer complaints here. Ask them for the updates on your accounts and they will be pleased to explain everything until you are assured.
