I'd also like to inform you that I have checked with my State Attorney General and verified that the Statute of Limitations for this type of debt through the courts in (my state) has expired. If you intend to take this issue to court, I shall inform the court of my dispute of this debt and that the debt is beyond the Statute of Limitations.
I never heard back from them . . .

Well I planned to give them a call tomorrow morning and tell them practically what everyone else said in previous posts.

Yet, I'm so lost on this entire issue.

Do I just voice my complaint and the fact I didnt purchase such items then go with the threat route?

Don't call! Just go ahead and write your letter (send it certified, return receipt requested) and say something like:

Dear Collection Manager,

Per the FDCPA I am requesting a validation of this debt. Please attach copies of the following documents:

(Then put in the rest of my previous post with the 3 document requests)

I do not believe I owe this debt and therefore I dispute this account.

**And if you believe it might be an old debt, but beyond the SOL, put that part in too!

Ok. So a letter.
This may be another dumb question, yet what do you mean send it certified?

Aside from that,I shall send it today. Thank you so much.
I have no previous debt, so once i get on these people, that charge should vanish correct? This is so frustrating..

@_@

Take it to the post office and tell them you want to send it certified, return receipt requested. It should cost you $5. What will happen is that the company you are sending it to will have to sign that they did indeed receive the letter.

My story starts out that I was informed by RJM that I owed Disney Book of the month club $48.98. My bill was addressed to my first initial and last name at my present address. I have never ordered any books, and when ever I do order anything, it is paid in full at the time it is ordered. Before I contacted them, I decided to do a little research to see if they were a valid business and found this website. I just called the number they provided me and after going through several prompts, I was able to dispute the entire bill, and aftewards I was told my account was closed.

I noticed a $34 charge on my Experian credit (it was not on my Equifax report however) for a Book Club which I have never joined so immediately disputed it with the Bureau. When Experian came back and said it would remain on my report I decided to call RJM. The lady I spoke to was extremely nice and said it was for a book club I joined at an address that I lived at during college. I explained to her that I never joined a book club and that honestly I never read. She also mentioned that hundreds of dollars in payments were already made on the account which I found even stranger because not only did I not join a book club, but I definitely would not have been making payments on this account as a broke college student. She then said the book was a Shakespeare book which I suppose would only be laughable if you knew me. I would definitely not be reading Shakespeare in college. I remained calm and polite the entire conversation however, and Melissa said she would take my word for it and delete the charge for all Bureaus. I will be following up and hopefully this will be removed. I feel like the book clubs are the ones to blame here and am wondering why they are selling all these debts that people have never heard of.

Just a quick question about RJM. I'm in the process of knocking out my outstanding debt so I can buy a house in a couple years. RJM has three outstanding bank accounts between my wife and myself over the past few years. (One is a BoA account from when I moved...I want to say 3-4 years ago. The other two are Wachovia accounts...one for each of us.)

I was planning on knocking out one of the Wachovia accounts next, especially since RJM has been one of the more civil debt collectors I've dealt with. (I know that must shock a lot of you reading this thread.) They're offering 70% off my debt and will consider it paid in full. Considering it's on my credit report and is someone recent (and only around $135) I wanted to knock it out.

Should I still send out some letters to them or just go ahead and pay them off? I'm not sure what to do concerning them after reading this.

(Although, there is one thing I wish my creditors would learn. My wife and I went to put my name on her local bank account so we could finally have a joint account. I had an account with them when I was in my teens and early 20's but hadn't used it in years. I thought I had an outstanding balance but never heard a peep from them or any collections calls. They also never sold the debt. They told me I had an outstanding balance and had to pay it before I could go on her account. I paid it on the spot because they never harassed me once about it. Learn something bottom feeders.)

Our case is different in that we just received an envelope addressed to a man with our address on the front from this RJM company. At first we feared this man was trying to take over our property which has happened to people before. Now through your helpful website we realize this is a harassing, fraudulent collection agency. But the use of our address is still worrisome.

I assume we cannot open this envelope so we will take it to our Post Master and see what else to do then.

RJM has screwed me too. They say I owe 53.00 to some "Scholastic". I have NEVER had an account with this company. I've called RJM and they say they will remove it from my credit. That was 2 months ago. It's showing up on my Experian report. I've disputed this twice with Experian but RJM keeps saying its my debt.

I was buying a house and all of a sudden my checking account got hit for 100.00 from this company that I've never heard of before. Experian will not take an account off of my Credit Report causing an extension of a bout 60days on my closing. I didn't even know about the Discover account, but it was settled in court in Arizona where I have never lived. The judgement was for the company over 2 years ago, but they still refuse to remove my name or clear it from my credit report and I can bet this company is involved with Experian and Discover somehow.

They claimed I bought 3 books I never did for years. I called the number on the bill n it was just a automated recording that said something about a mailing list and then says than k you goodbye and disconnects.I suspect from that they get your phone number and then who knows what..I was curious what ever came from your issues with comp "company".as for rights of consumers I know only 2 things one can do...write a cease and desist letter to prevent any further communications from them.which is phones calls and"bills" in the mail.when sent this cease and desist they legally can not contact you anymore.they can try to sue you but if it's for a phony book bill well I think not.you can also file a complaint with the BBB. They are not accredited BBB BUSINESS and when you look them up on the BBB website you can find that and the steps to file a complaint.its easy.you can call the FCC in your state and file a complaint over the phone its rather fast and what happens with that is if enough people have also made a complaint a class action lawsuit will occurs which you'd be part of and if there was a settlement you'd get some of it.hope this helps.this company thinks they are smooth but they are snakes and I hope enough people get as sick of them as I am and they get sued! One could only hope lol.

File complaint with BBB FCC and send cease and desists letters! Get your free credit report and claim it.it will be investigated and if found you don't owe for the bogus books it will be removed from your report! They are sneaky and probably wont be under rjm on the report but you'll be able to narrow it down. Keep the bogus bills they send too. You prob do have a debt you negelectedand that's what it's really about but by trying to get you by sending false collections. Is misleading. But this is what we can do as consumers and it goes for ANY DEBTS you may have that are misleading, false or bordering on harassment.power to the people! Im hoping for a class action lawsuit.im 27 and they have been sending me the same fake book bills since 21. With no luck calling the number provided on getting thru to an actual person.good luck everyone!

I just saw my credit report after four months that shows delinquent payment since January 2011. I have been paying all my bills. The Credit report shows RJM ACQ LLC's name and address and phone number. I see that this company is doing all sorts of fraudulent stuff and they are still not in prison I am sure one day they will go to prison.
