Hi, I need urgent help with CC debt. I used to have Discover card as a student. When I finished college and became employed I transfered the balance to my bank credit card that they offered me, because of lower interest rate. I wasn't using the credit card, just paying off the balance (around $2000). Then they started charging me for late payments, when I have send them money on time. They always posted it a day later. I have refused to pay those charges, but that didn't matter. Then I have been laid off and only receiving SSI to support my family. I didn't and couldn't pay any late charges, so they added about $100 charge of going over the limit (bear in mind, that I have never used the CC, only transfered the balance). Now I have lawyer contacting me and stating that he will put a lien on my home if I don't pay him $4000. I have contacted NJ Legal Services, but received no help whatsoever, that attorney is doing absolutely nothing and I don't know where to turn.
Help anyone?

You definitely need some professional help. If you can afford a private attorney, he will help you in resolving this case.

Proper negotiations are required in your case and resolve the matter with your attorney. I guess that's the way out.
