About once a week I recieve a threating message to return their call at 866-471-7100. The message is...You or your attorney need to call our office, we have a claim in the State of Illinios we need to speak to you or we will take matters in our hands. I asked my attorney about this calls... she feels this is a scam or a trap of a old debt paid. She also told me if I return their call I might get trapped and committed. If it was true of legal claim or debt.. I would have been notified by letter first. I called to see who or what company it is. The recording says...CPI Incorp. Does anybody who they are ? And a address so I may send them a cease letter.

Listen to your lawyer. Per the fdcpa it is unlawful to leave messages like that. Don't be fooled, do not contact them no matter how serious it sounds because it's probably just some minimum wage working little weasel trying to get some new speakers at your expense. It WILL open up a can of worms.

We have no intension to returning their calls. What I would like to do is send them a letter to stop. How long do you think they will keep calling ? This started about two months ago.

They'll keep calling until either you answer them or you crack. You can even have your lawyer step in for you, draft a cease comm, or do all your speaking for you.

Spoke with my lawyer, and she said...lets get a address and she will step in. So we both tried calling, the lady that answered would not give me a address. She would just start asking questions of what's my name before she will give me any imfo. I refused to give her my name...so she hungup on me. I just got to find a address of this CPI Incorp to have my lawyer send them a cease letter. Has anybody heard of these people? They say their are in the State of Illinois on the message. We know their number they left to call (866-471-7100). My husband and I have been married for 42 years and never had this happen to us... this is all new to us.

Yes, and there is nothing there but my home loan that is still active. I have been told that some credit card companies if they can't collect from a person that left them with a balance... they will roll it over to other people accounts, paid off or not. Is this true ? My husband and I have stop having credit cards many years ago. This is what we fear is trying to happen to us...a roll over of somebody elses balance. We are in hopes that if we don't answer their calls, thinking this is a scam... they will just give up. If not, I would just love a address to be able to send them a letter to stop calling.

Why should you pay other peoples' balance? They cannot do whatever they like; there are rules and regulations in our country, right? Stick to your principle; never pay a dime without proper paper work. Ask for their contact address so that you can send out the request for validation. Remember a legitimate will never hesitate to disclose their identity.

Got another message today. But this lady blew it by saying she is from CPI in behalf of Citibank and to call 866-471-7100. So now my question is... can I send Citibank a cease letter being that I can't find CPI's address ? Or does the letter only goes to who calls you ?

Cease Comm letter should be sent to the Collection Agency only. However, you can contact Citibank to know 1) how to contact CPI and 2) if Citibank will settle the account directly with you.

I've had a CTI Incorporated phoning me.
CTI shows up on the ID caller.

From what I'm reading on this thread, the correct name of the Company is CPI Inc????
Am I correct?

If anyone finds their address, please post it on this thread. I am desperately trying to find it as well.

I can't believe Citifinancial refused to give out their address.
Why are they trying to hide?

I have had the same threatening messages as well. I finally answered one time and they said that they were with JC Penny's. It made no sense to me but the call was ended by the woman telling me "Good luck with this you broke *ss woman!" and she hung up in my face. I just got a message stating that I need to call them back TODAY or else drastic measures will be taken. I dont know who these people are but the are RUDE, very UNPROFESSIONAL and are not willing to give any information about themselves.

It is a valid collection agency. You obviously have a debt account you need to take care of. Why don't you answer the call? What do you have to hide? If you have nothing to hide, then don't be so paranoid of who they are? DUH!

I got all your answers ladies and gentle man. First yall might hate me but I use to work at CTI and from what I read I did not call none of you since this were old messages but I'm going to cover everything about CTI.
First Cti is not a professional company. Is more like we city people like to call it ghetto. From old phones and especially the building cti has very rude and racist employees that swears in every sentence they use, even the managers lol. But about calling your family members all they do is they use a website call fastdataweb.com and search you (debtors) by your ssn, name, city, and state and it will show you a possible # or possible relatives #. Thats the reason why they are contacting all this relatives. Also when they ask your ssn they not doing any scam they are trying to pull your account just to let you know and also one hint. They can NOT call u more than 1 time a day is illegal under the FDCP (Think it meant Fair Debt Collection Practice) is a 24 hour rule ex. i call you monday im NOT suppose to call u tuesday but wendsday is the time to call u back. Also people from NY,NC, and CT they cannot leave a voice mail is Illegal in those states. Also this place is located in 3333 W. Arthington Chicago, IL take the second floor "ghetto" elavator turn to your left go all the way down thats the GHETTO office. About Scott I dont think you going to hear from him since he got laid off or fire on feb. Also you know why they threat you to pay this. The reason why is they are trying to hit their bonus goal. Ex you owe $1,200 and you paid it off I get 28% of that amount to hit my goal. So now why you know why they sound thirsty about when they say u got this much time, is bull sh*t you got any time as many as you want but of course fee are adding up every month you dont pay. And about Citi bank, this dont mean you got an citi bank it means you took out a credit card from a store for ex. they have good year and zale those r stores they work w/ citi bank. Just they let the whole info the employees are 90% African American,7 % hispanic, and 2% other. So all I did is answer peoples question and how unproffesional and racist this place is. The funny thing is the boss the main big guy their friends with all this unproffessional people. Their # is 773-265-2600 or toll free 866-471-7100 ext.... Hope it help
