I guess I'll stick my neck out, and share my story. Warning, it's long cause I'm in a rambling kind of mood today.

edited because I feel like I have given too much personal info. I'll add more in later.

In just 6 month's time the PDL effect has snowballed like it never had before. The cumulative effect is just, amazing. We owed about $2700 or so in PDL, with interest payments of about $1000 a month. We were so behind on bills that when our tax return was deposited, by the next day it was gone with nothing to show for it. I'm beginning to see hope, but it's months out from now. I have to get through the summer, after we pay off the arrangements we have made for checks and such that had bounced in the last month. I registered with this site last summer, and I don't know why I never read over the forums, used the advice,... I think that it would have helped prevent the disaster we are coming out of now.

Hi Dana,

I am happy that you are posting in this forum and getting the required knowledge. Don't take payday loans; they won't be the best solutions for your problems. Try to get a job so that you can solve your financial problems to a great extent.

It's good that you have come out of your old habits that were not doing anything good to you. Make better financial plans, do some calculation over your household expenses and stick to the daily budgeting. After some time, you will see things shaping up nicely.

Keep paying your dues. Your payments will be reflected in your credit report and this will be good for your file. If your credit is in a better shape, the local lender in your area might be in a position to offer you new credit. But say NO to payday loans...

Dana, keep in touch with this forum. You will make new friends here going through similar problems like you. Hope everyone sees some light at the end of the tunnel.

Regards
Roxette

Thanks Roxette.
Actually, through all of it we have stayed current on almost all bills, and been less than 30 days behind on only a few.

As for working- it would cost more in daycare than what I could make. So we tightened expenses as much as we can, and are now just hoping that gas doesn't go up to $4 cause that will shoot the budget.

have learned my lesson. I had been paying payday loans since June 2005. Never had anymoney left over got pd loan one after another to pay one back or pay rent, house payment, utilities whatever. Then I got a call from Hess & Kennedy about consolidation and when they said they do payday loans ( said YES!! then I decided to do a search on them and found this site and T&C. Boy am I glad. I would have had to pay Hess $500. a month for 3 months then the consolidation pay was over 400. couldn't afford that. then I got the info for T&C and am glad I did. They are a Godsend. I haven't had any nasty phone calls from the PDLs only two creditors still call me - one said they never received a proposal from T&C -so will get in touch with T&C on Monday. The other is First National Bank of Marin (now Bank One) don't ever get a credit card from them. I bnelieve they are a foreign bank. When they call it is always an broken ENglish person calling. I am just so glad I found this forum. You guys have been very helpful to me. NEVER EVER will I get a payday loan no matter how bad I need it. I have lived on less than $40.00 this month but things will get better in July, when I get caught up in utilities and house payments

Karen,

I'm so glad that you are recovering as well. I know, it has been tough this month, but we will both make it.

Did you send the letters to United etc? If not, let me know and I will send you another letter. I'm writing up a new letter for Quikpayday, stating how much I've paid vs how much was allowed. Hopefully I can get them to knock some off what I owe.

I forgot to add, we also had a credit card with First Bank of Marin. Last fall, I asked to change the debit date for a postdated payment that was initiated over the internet. They wouldn't let me because the acct was in hubby's name, and they conveniently no longer had the power of attorney on file. By the time I faxed it to them again, they notated it on the acct, it was too late to change the date. And I had only asked for the date to be moved back 3 days, which was still before the due date, because I hadn't looked at the calendar to see when direct deposit would post. The payment bounced, and they charged over $150 in fees for one payment bouncing. I was, and still am, furious about that. They would not back down on those fees.

Dana,
You will get through this summer, I promise you. You are already well on your way to getting things done, and I know from personal experience that when it gets better it gets better fast. You have been a huge help to me, with your PDL wisdom and your support. Thanks, and I'm glad you're here.

Dana, explain the situation to the supervisor of First Bank of Marin. Perhaps, they can waive off the fees if they want to. This is possible if you can make some payments from your side for which the check bounced. Keep negotiating with the person until the matter gets resolved.

Thanks John. I had tried talking to about everyone I could. I ended up including that credit card with our T&C consolidation. It's better in the long run.
