Has anyone heard of AMO Recoveries? According to the BBB they have an unsatisfactory record. I received a collection notice for $32.02 on a credit card and all the letter states is that AMO Recoveries has been informed that the account is past due, and DO YOU INTEND ON PAYING THIS DEBT? Their address is 7067 W Broward Blvd. Suite C Plantation, Florida 33317. I think a debt validation letter is in order. If anyone has heard of AMO Recoveries, please let me know.

Hi
Welcome to the forums. The creditors might have sold the account to this AMO Recoveries Collection Agency i.e Recoveries when your account became past due. It is better to pay it off to improve your credit ratings. Ask the agency to validate the debt. This will help you in knowing some more details about this account and proper calculation of interests. Make payment arrangements and update your information only after the debt gets validated by them. Send all your correspondence through certified mail with return receipt requested. This will help you in keep a record of your correspondence made. Some more addresses to contact this agency are given below. AMO RECOVERIES / AMO Recoveries Collection Agency 4425 W. Yes, they are harrassing me at work after repeatly telling them not to call me at work. They spoke to my daughter one evening and cussed at her. I have given them specific instructions not to call me at work. They have told me they are going to garnish my wages. Then they called and told a co-worker they would be serving me with papers. It is making me nervous and embarrassed. I spoke to supervisor and the calls stop for about two weeks at my workplace. Now they call repeatly so times 5-6 in a row. i don't have the money to pay nor do I want my paycheck garnished. I barely pay my necessities now. What can I do? I can't even afford an lawyer.

Send them a cease and desist letter to stop contacting you. As per the fdcpa law, they can't contact you repeatedly after you have requested for the debt to be validated.
Your wages can't be garnished until your debt has been validated. Besides, they have to get orders from the court to take this action. You might be asked to appear in the court. So, if they start garnishing your wages all of a sudden without legal proceedings, you have the federal rights to dispute it. Send your debt validation letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. This will prove that you have interest to pay this debt and wish to get it validated first. Seeing this, the court will rule in your favor and ask the company to validate the debt first. |

Angry,
Please keep us updated with the whole process and I am hoping that these collection calls will stop after they receive your letter. |

To Amo Recoveries
I was researching a payment my company received on an already paid debt and found your post regarding AMO Recoveries which is where the payment came from. Coincidentially, this morning I was reading about "Zombie debt collectors" (see web site below). Can this be what is happening to you? Good luck. Link made inactive as per forum rules - Vikas |

We are not Amo Recoveries. This is one of the pages about the company you are looking for in our website. The community is discussing about AMO Recoveries here and your search for the company resulted to our page in the internet. So, you need to contact the actual company and place your request. I already found what I needed on AMO at another site but was hoping to help "mom of twins" with her dealing with AMO. The (now inactive link) mentions this new trend of "zombie collections" and thought that might be what was happening to her. The check we got from AMO was small and the original debt from many years ago has already been paid. We did not sell the debt but suspect a collection agency we formerly dealt with may have.

After you paid the debt, I hope your credit report might have been updated as 'paid in full'. This is a very important status so that you can prevent from such unwanted collection calls and their illegal actions of tampering with the debt. __________________

The same thing happened to me with these people. I understand they are trying to collect but they are just being rude and condescending. I told them several times not to call at work but that is where they insist on calling me. They told me to try to get a loan to pay off the debt (it's quite substantial) and I did - but then I tried to call them back and they were never available. Now they are calling me again at work telling me that I probably didn't even try to get the loan and pretty much trying to tell me that I was a deadbeat. I'm going to follow Ben's advice and hopefully that will work.

Stop the collection agency from calling at your place of work. The company is required to follow the federal laws after receiving your cease and desist letter. Send your letter through certified mail and keep the receipt in your file. You need to have everything documented if you are thinking of filing a legal case against them in the future. Read the FDCPA and know more about your legal rights while dealing with the collection agencies. |

Why do you people keep coming in here telling us to pay our bills ontime? You know absolutely nothing about us, or what our situation is.

Common Sense,
Maybe you cannot read what the posts are truly about. People here are NOT trying to get out of their debts. They come here seeking advice after dealing with a nasty collection agency. Just because someone owes a debt, it does not give the CA a right to violate the fdcpa laws and to harass the consumer. Now, do you always pay your bills on time? Maybe you should not judge UNTIL you have walked in someone else's shoes. Now shoo! |
