These two numbers keep showing up on my moms caller Id. We have done some seraching and can't find out who the numbers belong to. When she gets home from work each night, these numbers appear at least 5 times a piece. Does anyone know who they belong to?

There is no online information about these numbers. You might take some help from your telephone operators or contact the phone busters. These are some secret agencies that track such type of automated calls.

Phonebusters serves for both US and Canada. If you visit the 'contact us' page of phonebusters.com, you will get the number for US.

You can send a mail also if you are hesitating to talk over the phone.

I too have received phone calls from this number. The call is First Credit of America and claims to be a collection agency. They have repeatedly called me about a debt that I do not owe despite my explaining to them that I am not the person they are looking for. I have googled the company and saw some information that seems to indicate that they are not a reputable business.

You should send a debt validation letter to First Credit of America. If they are contacting you for some debt, they need to authenticate it first. They will have to provide you with all the necessary details about the origin of the account, the calculation of interest charges, and copy of the agreement letter with your creditor.

They should be able to serve you these documents first before continuing any collection practices. If they can't and keep calling you, I will list down all the dates and time of their calls being made along with the name of the caller. Tell the person that the call is being recorded and you wish to present it for legal actions against them. It is a violation of the FDCPA law to call you up even after sending the debt validation letter.

I just had the phone calls from them like 10 minutes ago and I am in the process of finding out what legal avenue to take against them. I tried rationally explaining that they had the wrong number and after much attitude and such from them....I basically told them to screw off and hung up. He had the nerve to call me back and ask me if I spoke to my husband that way. That is harrassment for them to keep doing this not to mention fraudulant.

Take the legal help if these calls are not stopping. Talk to your lawyer and file a class action lawsuit against them. You can also start recording the phone calls with dates and time. Inform the caller that you wish to present these details to your lawyer and file charges against them. The legal actions will keep them in the best of their behavior.

I received an email from phone busters and they state the numbers I listed above were telemarketers using an autodialer. They gave me a website to go into to register to stop these type of calls. I can forward the email to whomever wants the website address.

In many states, it is illegal to record a phone conversation without both consent from both parties. Ben, maybe you should also make people aware of that next time? Just a thought.

Thanks for highlighting the point. But if you read my posts once again, you will realize that I mention the point 'inform the other caller that the call is being recorded..'. If the caller continues with the conversation after knowing the fact, it means that he has given his consent to the recording. Does the person has to wait for the CA to say.."Yes, please record this conversation for legal purpose...." I doubt it.

apologies ben, i saw the post right after that where you didn't mention getting permission. sorry 'bout that!

not trying to discourage debtors from recording calls, just want to make sure they don't into trouble.
