Brat, include this letter in your folder of important documents. In future, you can use this letter to prove Encore that they were guilty of their mistake. It can be used as a powerful defense.

I hope youre not satisfied with that response Brat!

Everybody has a job to do...that doesnt mean that they can break the law!

Thats like at a retail job for instance " Consumers need to know that we have a job to do and that we might steal from the company, were just doing buisness."
What a load of crap.

Short and sweet - " Yeah you busted us but were not admitting any wrong doing because we have a job to do"

In response to Collectcorp Fraudsters, I am no way satisfied with this response. I feel they are trying to cover their tracks and it isn't going to work. I have put it in my large over extended folder of letters for future use.

The Account ( LOWES ) CAPITAL ONE WAS PAID
In Full and Ordered To Close the Account,
Which I sent Certified Proof of this action.
However, they Hired Encore to Hound For
Something That Has Been Paid in Full!!!
I Called the Attorney Generals Office for
Info, on how too, and I did exactly what
they told me to do. However, this did't
stop them at all.
Thank you !!

Not sure who mentioned this earlier, but the FCC is not the organization that can help you here. This is a debt collector, claiming that a debt is owed. If the debt is not owed, then the debt collector is in error. Encore's the one in the hot seat here and they are not governed by the FCC.

What you need to do, ASAP, is contact your state's attorney general's office. You need to file a formal complaint with the AG's office and with the FTC. Give them each a copy of the Verizon letter with each complaint. Let them know that you provided this information to Encore and that they refuse to handle the situation. They will look into Encore further. At the same time, mention what has been placed on your credit reports and they will make that a part of the complaint. If Encore doesnt clear this up, even after these complaints, then simply sue them. Dont wait around for them to fix it on their own--they wont.

Encore called several disinterested parties in my case, divulging private financial information ON VOICEMAIL!

Their calls to me and other parties broke both state and federal laws.

I saved as much information as I could and retained:

Philip D. Stern, Esq.
Law Office of Philip D. Stern
75 Main Street, Suite 101
Millburn, NJ 07041-1322
Telephone: (973) 379-7500
E-Mail: prelitigation@sbcglobal.net

As my legal representative.

That put an immediate stop to the harassment and illegal activities of these "Gestapo tactic" debt collectors. If more people take a stand, it will eventually have to stop.

Hi! I am one of the debt collectors from KS. Well, you'd better pay your debts if it is legally owed. But i would say that i am one of those people who are aware of their credit reports.

I've studied such scenarios and found out that some of them were lying, making some alibis. I am telling them to call customer service to verify the eligibility of the call and they wouldn't do it. Some say, t'was a waste of time. Well, i am just concern about their reputation that might be ruined by collection agencies like mine.

I am a third party that has been getting phone calls from Encore about a family member. My calls have beem coming from a Ms. Pam Young. I just called Encore and spoke to Ms. Pam Young and asked that they not call my house anymore. Ms. Pam Young said "is that it?", and then hung the phone up. What a piece of cr*p person with a piece of cr*p job.

You need to report them to the FTC, if more people would, this type of thing has a better chance of being curtailed.

Send them a full Cease Comm informing them you are not the person they are looking for and any further correspondence from them will be responded to with a summons for violations of the fdcpa. Simultaneously, file complaints with the FTC, the AG's in your state and their state (they have offices in OH, NV, KS & NV) and the ACA (They are members).

Glad to see the GED (Good Enough Diploma) squad out today! If you re-read the post from Jim S, you'll see he is not the debtor in question but a dis-interested 3rd party. He doesn't want to be contacted because he didn't incur the debt. Leave him alone!

BTW: I'll go up against you any day of the week in regards to the fdcpa! Troll!

maybe you should be upset with the family member who gave your # as a contact # and now refuses resposibility for there debt, what none of you people seem to understand is that this is a job this is how we make our money, this is a forum filled with debtors ask yourself how many times you have paid because your sick of hearing about the debt or sick of the calls or because of the ramifications of not paying, think about it if we called you once a week and "asked" you to pay youe debt who would offer that no one person here thats why you are in here bitching about people who might be doing this part time so there bills dont fall behind.maybe the rest of you should get a part time job doing collections maybe then i wont have to put up with your rude intitled attitude when i call to collect on you,you will be ready to get your check book and be accountable for contracts you sign
