Hi Chrissy

Welcome to the forums.

It's getting tough to stop the unauthorized debits from Cash Today. At this point, you should definitely close your checking account in order to save your hard earned money. Contact this company and request for your loan statement. Hopefully, you should claim for a refund also if you have paid more.

I took out a $200 payday loan from Cash Today Limited not too llong ago. Due to my recent divorce my financial situation just isn't what it should be right now, and I make pretty good money. Anyway, These people have proceeded to call me up at work 6 times today already, and it is only 2PM. I sent a certified letter to this company telling them to cease and desist any and all contact with me over this debt and they still continue to call and harrass me. Today I am filing a complaint with the State of Arizona Attorney General's Office, the BBB and the FTC. I guess we shall see where this leads hereafter shortly.

To make your side stronger, you should start recording the phone calls also. List down the dates and time along with the name of the person called you. This will give you some legal proof if you want to file charges on them.

Did you write in your cease and desist letter to stop all communication except through mail. If you put a complete cease to all collection activities, you won't be informed of the legal actions they might take against you. This will worsen the situation.

BTW, are you keeping a track of all the payments made towards the loan? Request for a loan statement from the company so that you know how much has been paid and how much is left to cover the loan amount.

I've just recently taken out a $200.00 loan with Cash Today Ltd last Thursday. I wish I'd seen this website before I agreed to the loan. Fortunatly for me today is Tuesday and they still have not deposited the money into my account. I keep calling to see when they are going 2 deposit the cash, but now that I've read this site, I don't trust them and when I do get a hold of them, I'm going to tell them to cancell the loan. Even though it was an agreement, the contract has already been broken on their behalf because I have not yet received any funds. As a matter of fact, I'm going to transfer all my direct deposits to my other bank account right now & reopen another account with my bank under a new #. Thank you ladies and gentelman. I think I should also fax over a copy of my last 2 transaction statements and their emails to my credit bureaus so that I can report it now, incase they try to attach this loan 2 my credit report and I've never received it.

Welcome to the forums. As you can tell, many people have had problems with Cash Today Ltd. It just seems that any payday loan company is a bad idea, but on occasion the extreme emergency comes along, and we give in to the loan sharks.

If you're worried about what might come in the future, as you mentioned I would tell Cash Today to cancel the loan. I would also call your financial institution (right now) and tell them to decline the ($200) deposit.

That way, you would have made at least 2 attempts to make sure the loan doesn't go through. You might have to change your account number for safety reasons, as they might try to get their money back (that they think they depsoited), come the following payday.

Hope all goes well on your end!

Regards-
Mike

Do not agree to a cancellation that is said verbally. You should insist for something in writing defining the cancellation of the loan agreement. It is very good that you are remaining cautious from now onwards. I wish you the best for not getting scammed by them.

I have recently taken out a debt conslidation loan and have repeatedly told this company the situation as well as have sent them a cease and desist letter. They continue to call me at work and harrass me. They tell me they have received to correspondence from me and I have sent them numberous fax's with the name phone number and address and fax number of my debt consolidation company. I have sent them a cease and desist letter per certified mail and they tell me they have not received it. Yet, a couple of days ago when they called they said that they had received my letter. I am at the end of my rope with this company and would like to know if there is anything I can do to stop them. I have every intention of paying this debt off.

Hi Judy,

A cease and desist letter actually restricts any collection agency from calling you after receiving the cease and desist letter. Though the creditors are not necessarily required to follow it, but if you have included their account in the consolidation program, talk to your consultant and request him to negotiate with the lenders. People from Cash Today should not call you as long as they are receiving money from you. Discuss with your consultant about the status of this account also.

Now that the company says that they have received your cease and desist letter, let's see if they further intend to call you again or not. If they call, it will be a violation of the federal laws after specifying the fact and you can take legal actions against them with the help of your attorney.

Also, you can file your complaints against the company at the FTC and the BBB as well as inform their unfair activities at the nearest consumer protection office in your state.

Regards
Roxette

I also have a payday loan with Cash Today Limited. I have since 4 months ago. I know I gave verbal concent over the phone, I never signed any contract, but every Friday they take $79 out of my checking account to cover a roll over until I can pay this off in full. I know I have definatley paid the $200 loan off by now but do they have a legal right to take action against you if you do not pay. My money is very tight!!

Hi Jill

Welcome to the forums.

Request for a statement from the company so that you get an idea of how much money has been paid.

If you think that you have paid much more than the loan amount, then you should consider closing your checking account. This way you will save extra money from going towards them and then place it on dispute if they request for more.

Please do all your correspondence in writing so that you have proof of every action taken.

Regards
Roxette

Hi
I requested a payday loan less than an hour ago with a third party company (WeGiveCash.com) and was told that my application had been forwarded to Cash Today Limited. After reading all these comments about this company I am extremely nervous about doing business with them. Even though I do need the money urgently do you think I should cancel the loan? Please help.

Hi Barbara,

Welcome to the forums.

Immediately, get the loan agreement cancelled, if possible. Send it in writing so that you have a proof of the cancellation. There are lots of troubles faced with this company after the loan is deposited in the account. Or, your personal and bank information can also be at risk if it is with them. Talk to your bank and keep a constant watch over your bank accounts. Send your letter through certified mail with return receipt request. Refer to the CMRRR number for explaining your part of the actions taken towards cancellation.

Regards
Roxette

I FINALLY got through to someone after repeatedly dialing for 30 minutes.
Please note that Cash Today Limited's fax number has changed 1-800-990-9926

Thank you so much for the tips on this thread. I (knock on wood) may have averted disaster with them. We'll know for sure on Friday.
