I have already paid Cash today $472 for a $200 loan. My bank account is frozen and I have not paid them in a couple of weeks. I refuse to pay them anymore. Is there any laws that state how much interest or fees you pay on a loan. Shouldn't that satisfy my debt with them? Needless to say they no longer call my job or me at home. I lied and said I no longer work where I am working and changed my phone number at home. It seemed to work have not heard from them in at least 3 weeks. Although they do try to debit my account every week for random amounts. One week they took $59 for the fee then that same day they also took $118 without my permission. Then my bank account became frozen because it was over drawn. Needless to say one week they tried to take $30 then another week they tried to take $25. But any all weeks after they took the large amount from me the debits have been denied. Can you believe these people!!!! They take over your account and take money from you without your permission. I authorized a fee only what give with the additional $118 in the same day!

Every financial institution generates a statement giving the latest standing of your loan amount. This gives a complete picture of the total amount of loan taken, your payments made towards it, and the due amount with calculation of interests after each payment.

If you have not authorized for the debits, then you should talk with your bank. They will likely give you a report of this fraudulent activity and this put you in a stronger side. It will be helpful when you might like filing a case against them in the future.

Also mention that they should stop calling you at your place of work otherwise it will be a violation of the fdcpa law.

All the mentioned points prove your willingness to pay (or rather paid) the said debt. You need to get a statement from Cash Today which is very important.

My wife took out some loans from this company (they work under different names, don't they?). Well, it hasn't worked out so well, and due to a bunch of financial and medical issues, we had to file for bankrupcty.

Yesterday, we received a call from them, and I told them that they have to talk to our attorney. They refused to take the number, and eventually the phone rep (are they in India?) switched me over to her manager. This guy claims they haven't received any information on our bankruptcy, and gave me their phone and fax number. They said my attorney had to send the paperwork, including our case number.

What I found to be laughable was that they didn't have a LOAN number for him to reference. They said that they only look up the loan via Social Security number. When pressed, he eventually said that they could look it up via first and last name. They probably already have her social security number, but I do not believe for a second that they do not have loan numbers.

Anyway, I'm passing the info to our attorney.

Hmmm... under "Contact Us" on this very site, we have:

debt consolidation care
711 S. Carson St. Suite 4,
Carson City, Nevada 89701

I have a feeling this website is run by the same loan people that are ripping everybody off.

keef,

I can understand how you may think that this forum is in cahooze with Cash Today because they practice out of the same state. But look at it this way, I received good advice on these a-holes (cash today) and was also able to give good advice. If you look in another forum which is all about Cash today ltd. you will see that one of their employees gave good advice on what to do to get them to stop calling. I myself told them I did not work at the establishment that I really do work at and they stopped calling my work. Keep your head high, you are one of the lucky ones who claimed bankruptcy and erased these jerks from your life!!!!

Ben,

Thanks for the feedback. They no longer bother me at work because I was able to screen their phone call and tell them I no longer worked where I still work. As for paying them I am unsure of how much I paid on my principle balance because I have never received a statement from them. I would rather not contact them and open that door to harrassment again but I guess I have to to settle this debt!!!!!!

I guess maybe expriencing this will teach a few people to not borrow money that they can't pay back. Be smart people read and understand the terms and conditions before entering into a contract with someone, especially if you don't know if you can hold up your end of the deal.

It is very important to read the contractual agreement before signing it. It contains the dates, time, cost of the program and all other necessary information regarding payment or cancellation terms. When you are signing a contract, you are accepting all the agreements between parties and imposing both legal and financial obligations.

Some tips should be followed before signing a contract.
  • All agreements should be in written form to avoid misunderstandings
  • It is important to know what you have signed
  • Read each and every line in the document
  • Check the document thoroughly.
  • If any modification is made, acknowledge it with your signature.
  • If the contract consists of multiple pages, sign each of them
  • Ask questions when you are in doubt
  • If required, always consult your attorney.
  • Lastly, keep a copy of the contract.
Keeping a copy of the contract is very important, because if something untoward incidence happens not mentioned in your contract, you can take required actions as you have the proof.

Regards
Roxette

dwest,

That's a good idea. But I believe, legal authorities should have solved this matter first.
