Default CIC*Credit Report

I just got charged $12.00 by CIC* Credit Report... and I got that one FREE credit report from Esperian too. Maybe thats the link. But they said it was FREE one time deal. So I don't know... I'm making an inquiry through my bank and flaging those guys so they can't charge me again. Just wonder how I get my money back now that they have it.

If you've ever tried to get one of those free ipods or a free laptop computer offer, you'll be asked to sign up for 3 different programs and complete them. One of the programs is the credit monitoring. Another is for either free cds, free books/magazines..., another might be to apply for a credit card and get accepted.

You'll have to complete 3 of the programs and get accepted/approved and/or complete the program to get the free ipod or latop. Sometimes after all the pain of those emails, I would think it would be better to just go out and buy the item your trying to get.

People think they're only going to be billed the dollar for the free books. Perhaps they move, the books are going somewhere---and come the following year you could get charged the membership fee of $50/year.

Or in someones case, the $3.99 for the credit monitoring.

Hopefully people are viewing the small details in any offer. If a credit card is required (paypal account or checking) be on the look out for any monthly member fees or the renewal fee come 365 days later.

Regards-
Mike

This reminds me of reading the risk factors that has to be printed at the end of the offer. It is very important to read the prospectus of the company before signing any contract.

Default CIC*Credit Monitoring 800-2202626

I signed up with this on purpose.

You get a free credit check.

You also have to give them a credit card number. Which they don't charge. However in the fine stuff you are agreeing to a monthly subscription service which is required for the free credit check.

You can cancel at any time but try to find how to cancel, I couldn't so I had my bank send me a new credit card and that got rid of them.

Good luck.

Hi Thomas,

Welcome to the forums.

You can report CIC to the following agencies and stop the unauthorized debits from your checking account.
  • OTS (Office of Thrift Supervision),
  • FTC (Federal Trade Commission),
  • OCC (Office of Controller Currency),
  • The Attorney General's office
  • BBB (Better Business Bureau)
It will also be preferable to close your checking account and open a new one. This will protect your personal information from floating to the scam companies.

Regards
Roxette

Hi SUMMER

Welcome to the forums.

The number to call CIC*Credit Monitoring is 800-2202626.

Please call them to cancel the subscription. Also keep a check over your account. You might think of closing it if the unauthorized debits continue.

Regards
Roxette
