Do you know that credit bureaus are not a part of the federal government? They are a multi billion dollar industry and are in the business to make money. But they are governed by the Federal laws and will have to necessarily abide by the rules. They earn profit like any other business by selling credit reports to US citizens.
The FACT Act gives the Federal right to every US citizen to get a free copy of the file every year from each of the three credit reporting agencies.
