Cartice,

Your credit report should be error-free always; otherwise you have to pay for the fault that you are not responsible for. Contact credit bureaus and dispute the entries. Credit bureaus will conduct an investigation and will rectify the report if any mistake is there.

It is very important for you to have a correct credit report to achieve a good credit score also. For any more queries, feel free to ask in the forums.

Hi Cartice

You have to dispute the fraudulent entries with the credit bureaus as well as file a police complaint at the local police station also.

This police complaint will speed up your actions.

Hi Angelll

It will be very important for you to contact the fraud department of the three credit bureaus and put a fraud alert in your credit file. Doing this, no new accounts will be opened in your name. A lender has to necessarily take permission from you before opening an account in your name.

All the credit bureaus will put a fraud alert in your credit file and FTC has directed the credit bureaus to issue you a free copy of your report as per your request within a year.

Angelll,

You should dispute the entry at once. Contact credit bureaus and inform what has happened with you. You can also add a statement to the report as well, explaining your situation. I think that can help you a lot.

Some self-supporting measures are there for identity theft which everybody should adopt whenever they feel that an id theft might occur. So you should perform these actions as soon as possible to save yourself.
