Sonic payday - hard to deal with

These people are very hard to deal with. How do I keep them from calling my job - I told the lady who I talked to last that I couldn't squeeze blood out of a turnip. I have come to the conclusion though that they are liars, they told me 2 weeks ago that they were going to send my account to a third party agency, well that apparently never happened. Is there a letter to send them to keep them from calling my job or my references? Evil or Very Mad

Sonic is a very hard company to work with. Here is what I would suggest in dealing with them. First, send them a letter stating that you are not allowed to receive phone calls at work or home anymore, all correspondence should be through the mail. Also, include not to contact your employer at all or references regarding this matter. You may also want to fax it to them before sending it certified mail with return receipt requested. Always, send everything to sonic via certified mail. Also include in the letter that you are revoking any voluntary wage assignment and not to contact your payroll department. They threatened to turn me over to collections too but it never happened. Do a search for Sonic Payday in the forums and you will find all kinds of information.

Nicole, I know with collection agencies, you can send them a letter telling them NOT to call your home or job--you can put it into terms of 'cease and desist' and stop ALL correspondence from them or you can tell them written correspondence only-NO phone calls. But I'm not sure about it working on Sonic payday since they are the original creditor. I think if you write them a letter (it has to be in writing) telling them that your boss allows no phone calls at work--then they have to honor this. Anyone else care to jump in here on this one? shirley

You can send the letter to Sonic. I was told this by two different AG's offices.

LOL Shirley! I know I see Sonic and my ears perk up like a cat. LOL! I contacted my state's AG's office as well as Pennylvania's AG's office about Sonic right after I went into debt consolidaton. They are the ones who told me to send the letter. It sounds like the AG's office in PA is very familar with Sonic Payday. They are handling a complaint for me against Sonic right now.

here is how i handled Sonic...and I have not heard from them in over six weeks:

After the initial round of threatening phone calls, when they did, in fact, contact my employer to "verify employment"...i sent a flurry of faxes/letters ( to every address/fax number/email address I could find). In the letters, I included a cease and desist statement, as well, I used a letter format taken from the forums here to revoke the VOLUNTARY wage assignment. The only thing I have seen from them since, is a letter basically stating that I am a valued costumer, and if would payback the amount, they would have a new loan waititng for me within the hour!!
As Mishele said, please do look at other topics here - the wage assignment you signed with them is totally bogus, but it's still important to send the letter....also, I am in no way advocating NOT paying back this company, nor any other - I would happily pay them if they would accept payments. I am in fact, putting moeny aside and waiting to see if they contact me again.

Actually, Sonic has written off my debt. I received an e-mail from them within the past two weeks because I had legal grounds to Sue them. It is important to keep everything documented when it comes to Sonic Payday. I would love to file a class action lawsuit against them. I don't think they are used to people knowing their rights and standing up for themselves. I won't quit until they are shut down. Sonic was pretty quiet after they received the first notice from my state's consumer protection office. Although the guy stated that he talked to me personally. I wrote back to the AG's office to let them know that this was bogus. I have a very thick file when it comes to this company.

Okay I am typing these letters right now - is it okay to include both the wage assignment and DO NOT CALL on same letter? Also, does anyone have the correct address for these folk? I have seen several - also fax number?

Nicole, yes you can them in together. I always add the cease and desist or 'do not call written correspondence only' as a paragraph at the very bottom of the page after the other letter. After I have signed it and have my name there, I skip on down and add that paragraph. Do it however you want to do it, I'm just telling you how I do mine.

Oh Shirley, come on now. You have to give me a little credit on being the Sonic Guru. I know that company like the back of my hand after dealing with them. It's sad thad I did so much investigative work about them, but I was ferious over the first "mistake" that they made.

But with all that information I have on the back of my hand, I'm surely not going to make the same mistake twice.

The answers are on the back of my hand now, so I'll pass the next exam. No more payday loans!

Mishele, you have been doing a great job supplying information about Sonic. Faxing and mailing the letter is exactly what I did with my last business with them. Thankfully, it's done. Over.

Regards-
Mike

Okay here is my letter: Is it firm enough or should i add something else to it? As soon as I get a response, I'm gonna print it and fax it right away.

Quote:
Dear Sir or Madam,

This is a matter that I am working hard to have resolved with your company. However, I hereby revoke your right to use the wage assignment previously signed. You no longer have my permission to use this wage assignment. Also, please do not contact my employer or references regarding this matter. All correspondence should be sent via USPS to the address listed above. Please do not contact me at work as I am no longer allowed to receive personal calls.

Any attempts to contact me other than by USPS will be documented and forwarded to the Attorney General's office.

Sincerely,

nicole
