They were not.

All three were credit cards. One was a gas card, another was a department store and the third was a regular bank credit card.

Okay---Did you have to pay any upfront money? I know you said you pay 175 per month, but what does the company get?

The first three months went to the company for their profits, costs, etc. After that, almost all of it goes directly into the settlement process.

dtownmike thank you for all the praise for the Roll Law firm. I do work as a debt analyst there and it is nice to see really nice feedback from people that are enrolled into the program. The reason we are able to stop the collection calls is because of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This makes it so collectors can only call your attorney if you have representation. You see other "settlement companies" do not have this power that is why it is so much more beneficial for people to use the power of a law firm. To anyone reading this if you are in a sticky situation you can reach me I work for the solicitation not allowed per forum rules - Goudah. We also here just rolled out a new website which makes it easier for potential clients to see our BBB rating and Bar association rating along with some other good info the link is uscaonline.com

Steve,
I am actually no longer enrolled in the program. I had trouble paying that bill as well (irony huh  ) and was de-enrolled from their program. I've tried a couple other programs but nothing is working out for me.

I'm hoping to get back in to another program soon but the thing that I have noticed is that if you work with a consolidation company, it will take years to pay off the debt. I now have two of my collection accounts well on their way to being paid off later this year. We'll see how it works, but for now I'm going directly through the CA and the ones I have are more than willing to work with me.

Thanks for the response!

I'm a little confused mike in another post I see that you put you don't think settlement is a good choice but in this post almost a year ago you were a very happy client. Right now how are you going about paying off these bills in collections? In full or trying to make an attempt at settlement yourself.

I learned that settlement, while less expensive and has lower monthly payments, does more damage to the credit report. Whereas working through all debts and paying monthly until completely paid off looks much better on a credit report.

Right now the total I'm paying per month between these two collection accounts is slightly more than what I was paying while on consolidation/settlement, but the interest rate has been either dropped or lowered to the single digits and the account will be paid off later this year as opposed to sometime in 2008 with consolitation/settlement companies. And keep in mind this wasn't just limited to RLO; I was with another company and it was pretty much the same thing.

I may reconsider my opinion on settlement if someone tells me otherwise.

I think Langhorne and T&C are the only companies that accept payday loans. Every other company I talked to has told me I have to handle them myself.

Default interest gathering

I had total faith in the Roll Law office but quickly found out that they are not all they say they are. I had several of the company's we were dealing with contact me and tell me they had never been contacted by the Roll Law Office to the point that we recieved 2 lawsuits and are having to pay one of them off as well as the money each month to Roll Law, and the interest somthing that was about 1000 dollars is now up to 2700 dollars and it will not take the 24 -25 months to be debt free that they led me to believe it will probably take another year with yet 2 more debts to pay. So it not only has cost me double payments and more headaches it is going to take me several more months of the double payments to get out of debt. This company sure is not all it says it is and would have been cheeper to claim bankrupt because at least it would have been delt with right away and not waited 3 years for the 7 years to begin to clear my name.

Default debt

Wow.......reading some of these posts is making me decide NOT to enroll with certain Consolidation/Settlement companies. A few, i have looked into, have been posted on this forum ( negative responses, that is. Goodness. Seems, it would be better in the long run, to try and clean up my Credit myself.

I couldn't agree more----anytime you can do something correctly yourself without paying for it, I say do it.
