I have quite a few incorrect address on my report (wrong spelling, wrong number, places I haven't lived). How important is it to dispute these items? Is it worth sitting on hold for hours it seems to get those removed from my report?

Hi Ehwin
Your personal information should be updated in your credit file. In most cases, the errors occur in the credit file due to two reasons. Either the bureaus have mistaken you for the other person with similar name and put it in you file. Another reason of this wrong reporting is a possibility of a fraud. This is a serious issue because someone tried to gather your personal information to get new credit. Instances of identity theft are increasing. This may not be the case with you but your file must give the accurate information about you. If you do not correct it now, some creditors will come to you with the accounts you never opened. They will assume you to be the person using credit from them. So, your file must be updated with accurate info.

Thanks Gretchin!
I just got off the phone with Experian - once they finally connected me with someone who could help - it was VERY painless. Most of the issues they were able to correct or delete, but a few I'll need to contact the creditors on. That wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be!
