I've read several posts regarding this company. I don't know what my next move should be. They are saying that I took out a payday loan with Paragon Funding in '04. I was under the impression that every loan that I ever took out was paid in full. When I got calls from them I was surprised. The girl asked for my lawyer's contact info, said that they are not accepting any payments from me, and they are going to proceed with filing a legal claim against me for theft by wire transfer or something of that nature. I asked for documentation so I can check my records and she said they sent it. I don't recall receiving anything. Because I used my work email, they said that they can contact my employer as well. What should I do?

It's really frustrating, because Jacoby & Myers is an actual law firm, while this place has apparently co-opted the name, changed the spelling a bit, and is now using it to terrorize consumers.

and I called the better business bureau in Cheyenne. Jacobi & Mayors is listed at 2710 Thomes Ave Ste 128 Cheyenne WY 82003.
This is the same address that Interstate Wire Compliance Bureau is also using. ICWS, Jacoby and Mayors, Ellis Crosby have a very deep connection with it.

RobW, verify your address the company used to send the letter to you. If the address has been entered incorrectly in their system, you must receive the details again.

It will be better if you can contact the original lender and request them to accept the payments from you. Tell that you won't feel comfortable paying to ICWS as you have heard lots of complaints against them. I am assuming your creditors have only assigned this collection agency to collect the debt from you. They might not have sold the debt to them. So, they can still accept payments from you. Get everything in writing from the company before you start paying them. You should have proof of this account and payments in case there is a need to dispute later to the collection agency.

Meanwhile, if the collection agency has not verified the address to you, send a DV letter requesting for the details. You can legally refuse to pay the debt till it gets validated.

I called the original lenders and they don't know anyting about Interstate Wire Compliance Bureau. They gave me a number to another Company called GTO but when I called them, they didn't know who I was. I have to pull all my old bank statements because I thought this was paid. I'm not 100% sure though.

I've filed complaints with the FTC against IWCB and Jacobi & Mayors. When I called the Wyoming Collections Board (I think that's what they're called), I was informed that Jacobi & Mayors and IWCB are NOT registered collection agencies in Wyoming. The nice lady I spoke with suggested I contact the Attorney General's office in Wyoming which is what I intend to do now. She said something must be going on because she's received over 20 calls about Jacobi and IWCB in the past two days. Just thought I'd share the info with whoever may need it.

I have also spoken with Ginger from the Wyoming Collection Agency Board. She took down my complaint but also informed me that the company isn't legit. I have since contacted the AG of Wyoming. Beverly from the office called me back and let me know that the attorney did research the surface information and the phone numbers are phone traps, the address is an old address of a law firm. She stated that all the leads had died, but sent out a complaint form for me to fill out so that I can file a complaint myself.

They are listed with the BBB, and they have an alternate phone number. When I call the number a guy answers and asks me where did I get the number from, and that I have the wrong number and hangs up. I think it's the right number because you get a live person. Also, I have filed complaints with the FTC and plan to take some legal action. Hope this info helps.

So all in all, what we have found out is that this company Jacobi & Meyers isn't a legit company and that we shouldn't send them our hard earning money!? Right? I haven't sent them any, but I still fear everyday that I am going to get to work and the police will be waiting or something! Crazy, I know!!

I myself spoke with Ginger just this morning from the Wyoming Collection Agency Board, and before even telling her the name of the company, she knew is was J&M. Apparantly she has received many calls on them. She advised me not to send them any money because the phone number that she has for them goes no where, so it is a dump line. She also said that it isn't registered and that there is not listing for Jacobi & Meyers anywhere.

Apparantly Jacobi & Meyers is in Wyoming. I don't know what's in Florida, though one of the numbers that I was given is a Florida based number. All I know is that these companies are fakes and no one should send them their money.

One question, how do you sign up and get more points on here? And what are the DebtCC Points?

Check the BBB on line, they are listed with the name Interstate Wire also. So we know they are the same company.

David~
Thank you for the address. I mailed out a certified letter on Tuesday with a return receipt on it, now I just wait and see if they actually will sign for it or not? Though I did call the Wyoming Board for collection agencies, and the lady knew exactly who I was refering to (Jacobi & Mayors) before I even stated their name. Apparantly she has/had been receiving many calls on them. She did inform me that they are not registered or listed in the state of Wyoming.

The reason he is using the name Jacoby & Meyers is because his firm has merged with J&M. J&M is a "chain" of law offices sweeping across America...

How can they merge with a company if they aren't legit?
