Sounds like Ted Crosby is up to his old tricks again.

MomofTwins~
I would like to think so. I have "googled" the name online and a law firm comes up, but it's a personal injury firm. I wonder if they know if they are using their name?

In one of the earlier forums, I remember reading about Jacoby and Meyers. I don't now how Ted Crosby is getting away with using another law firms name. i guess when you are in as much legal trouble as he is in, he is grasping at straws trying to rip people off to pay all his legal fees and from the looks of things he has a bunch of them.

I also heard some time back that Jacoby & Meyers is somewhere affiliated with Ellis Crosby. But unfortunately, there is no proof of it. Maybe, it's a rumor or if it's is real.

Not to worry on this because there is no debt prison since a long time. Well, as you are getting the calls regularly, send a cease and desist letter to the company and stop them from calling you.

Or, you should handle the collectors as strongly as they do. Ask them to follow the federal laws and give you the complete details of the account. You will be paying off the debt after you have reviewed the account properly.

They were threatening me also, but once I had my lawyer contact them, they wouldn't give her, nor I any information that we asked for. Like a physical address, information on the debt at hand. They also asked me why I would bring a lawyer into this when all they were trying to do was help me? Ridiculous if you ask me, I find it very harsh that a company calls you up at work, none the less, to harass you and threaten you. I have told them to cease calling me at work, but they did again after the fact. I don't know what to do either?

Helpmeplease

Do you have the receipts of the payments made to Ellis Crosby? In legal terms, Jacoby & Meyers should collect that much amount only from you that are outstanding at present. This should exclude the amount that you have paid to Ellis and Crosby. The payment receipts will prove how much you paid to them.

Jacoby & Meyers is required to give you the debt validation of this account with accurate details in writing. After reviewing it, place the items that are in dispute. You can refuse further payments till you have been served with the actual details of the account. Send all your letters through certified mail with return receipt requested. You will have proof of your actions.

As you asked the collection agency to cease calling you at work, this should be done in writing so that you can cover your base legally.

As per the fdcpa laws, collectors are required to stop contacting you after you have sent them the cease and desist letter. Send your letter certified with return receipt requested so that you have a proof of your correspondence.

You can have a look at the sample letter of the cease and desist letter and frame it as per your needs.

That would be great if I could send them something in writing, but they won't give out a physical address to me or my lawyer. He told me that I already had the city and state, so I could just mail it to that because it's such a big company and it would get there. I don't know about there, but no mail can be delivered with out a street address. So I can't do any mailing.

Ok, I will try to get their location details and let you know about it.

But you can also try contacting the credit bureaus as well as the local AG's office. I am sure they must be having their address because the records of every business are properly maintained there.

That would be wonderful if you could find that out for me.
I have been in contact with the Florida AG's office, as that is where the phone number is out of, though when they ask for a payment it's going to Cheyenne, Wyoming...strange isn't it?

ICWS is using the address 2710 Tomes Ave Ste 128, Cheyenne, WY 82001. Jacoby & Meyers, ICWS, Ellis Crosby are all fake names of the same company.

Default Jacobi & Mayors

I had the same frightening experience from these people yesterday. I researched the name they told me to pay via money gram. The spelling is Mayors, not Myers and I called the better business bureau in Cheyenne. Jacobi & Mayors is listed at 2710 Thomes Ave Ste 128 Cheyenne WY 82003. I intend to file a complaint with the BBB and with the Wyoming Collection Agency Board - if you're interested their number is 307-777-3497
