Has anyone heard of Elite Recovery Services? They have been looking at my credit report and I don't know why?

They specialize in collecting mostly pre-charged off credit cards. I would think they should not be looking at your credit report, but I know that some CA's that have some of my credit cards have looked at my report...so maybe you have a credit card in collections? And they just haven't contacted you yet.

Dependss on how they are looking at it. If they are looking at it to review an existing account, then not really. Creditrs (and their agents)Can pull your credit report in connection with account review. However, these inquireries donot show when your credit report is pulled by a potential creditor or employeer, and are not used in computing your credit score.

Skip tracing allows the debt collectors to view the file of the consumers. This is not restricted as per the FDCPA laws. They have the permission to view it and if they have a legitimate purpose relating to your account, they can even touch it.
Collectors do skip tracing for getting the contact information of the people. Besides, they can also do it for asset verification purpose.

Pre charge off accounts are the active accounts of the consumers that have been delinquent with the creditors. These are those accounts which creditors have not marked as 'charged off' in their books.
If the account has not been sold to the CA, you can make a payment arrangement either with the CA or the original creditor. Even after you have paid the CA, the account will be sent back to the original creditor. They will update your account with the bureaus and mark them as 'paid'

I had Elite Recovery call me and ask me information on my ex-husband. I dont even live in the same state as he does and have been divorced from him for 9 years. Why are they calling me for infomation on him and how did they know to contact me?

Denise, your information might have been used when the account was originally opened before the divorce. Did you sign jointly on the account? If yes, you might be related in this matter. If you haven't, send them a cease and desist letter in writing to stop contact you. The company is bound by federal laws to stop making calls after receiving your cease and desist letter. The credit card company must be having the info in their system. You can get it verified with them.

Elite recovery is a collection agency that most likely purchased a default account. If you owe someone then that is what they want.

You need to watch with these people, they have been taking 100.00 a week for over the past year and keep telling me that the balance is no lower than what it was from the start. They never give you a srtight answer and never fax or mail you a statment.

Your $100/wk pmnt probably doesnt cover the interest your being charged. You should take advantage of a settlement and pay a portion of the balance and have the remainder written off.

Elite has contacted me in regards to my uncle that i have not spoken with in over 5 yrs. and we stay in different states how did the get my number and why are they contacting me and my number is not even in the phone book.
