Did they take over accounts from Ellis Crosby? I received a letter from them yesterday. (Any CA that tells you that they can't send a validation letter is full of crap) anyways..They are collectiong money for e-payday. Which is fine but my new balance is $1444.50. To say the least, I was shocked. Has anyone had a similar issue? How are they do deal with? I am definatly going to dispute this one.

I got a call from Account Receivables yesterday and a letter in the mail as well. The guy I spoke with said that they had taken over Ellis, Crosby's cases and that he did not want to intimidate me or to make me feel bad he just wanted to work with me to get the balance paid. I told him I was at work and could not talk and he said he understood and took my cell number to call me another time. He said if anyone from Ellis calls me to tell them I know that AR is now handling my case and that they need to leave me alone. It was very strange how nice he was!

I have to agree with knee. The woman I spoke with was very nice and explained everything to me. I told her I had already paid Ellis some money. She told me to fax my receipts on Monday and they would deduct that from what I owed. Well would you belive this...U just received a call from Ellis Crosby. She said it was importent that I call her back. So I called Acounts Receivable back and they reassured me that they had my account and that Ellis was being sued and that they cannot collect any money. They asked me to call Ellis back to see what they wanted and then call them back.

It might sound good that Account receivable is holding the accounts previously owned by Ellis Crosby. I also admit that they are much considerate in working on our accounts.

But the bottom line is that we should see that our money goes towards our debt account only. Has anyone thought about asking Account Receivable to prove the debt we owe? fdcpa law gives us this legal right and we should exercise it at the most. I guess they won't be hesitant in providing the necessary details.

At the end, they should responsibly report our accounts to the bureaus. We need to make sure that our credit file takes good shape after payments are done. Get everything in writing right from the beginning so that we don't have to suffer later.

Joey Urquide, Ellis Crosby is undergoing several legal actions by the Florida Attorney general and most probably, they are out of business.

So, if Ellis Crosby is calling you, you are not forced to attend them.

Hi LENORA

Remember that even if you pay the amount to Ellis Crosby, it will not be going to your debt account. They will try to pocket your hard earned money and you will be left with no proof of your payment made.

During this time, they were supposed to appear before the court for their illegal activities. You can check the state attorney general website of Florida to get the latest update.

If they call you repeatedly, inform them that the call is being recorded and you will be forced to take legal actions against them. Also file your complaints at the FTC, BBB and the DA's office.

Regards
Roxette

I guess the niceness only lasts so long. I received a letter in the mail a week or so ago from Accounts Receivable Technologies stating that I owed money for a loan in the amount of $778.00. My original loan was only $300.00. I spoke to a gentleman who was very nice and felt like I might have a chance at taking care of this. This weekend I received another letter from them stating that I owe $998.00. I called to speak to the same gentleman and was told that I had to deal with whoever I got. I said ok, can you explain how the amount went up by $220.00? The lady on the phone named Delores told me that because I did not pay the balance in full, they added on interest. I asked her how the interest is calculated and she told me not to worry about it that they knew what they were doing. What do I do now?

Call Delores once again and ask her to put it in writing that you are not required to know the calculation of interest. You have to show the document in the court later that the company didn't give you necessary papers on how the interests were calculated. A company doing business always puts everything on paper and she sounds unco-operative with the consumers.

I received a letter and a phone call from Account Receivable Technology saying that I owed almost $1000. The loan that I took out from Apollo was only for $200. How do I dispute this?

Account Receivable Technology must be holding your debt legally before you make any payment to them. Ask them to validate the debt and also give you the proper calculations of it. As per the fdcpa law, they are required to be licensed in your state to collect the debt. Also check if the said debt is within the SOL period. And you need to be provided a copy of the agreement letter stating that your creditors have sold the debt to this collection agency.

After they have given you specific details of your debt, you know that the legitimacy of the debt and hence you can pay it off.

What if CA replies with calculations and you don't agree? What steps should be taken next? I had Accounts Receivable tell me over the phone they charge 35% fee for the loan amount.
