You could try sending the a C&D letter. They may or may not honor it. You could block their number if your phone company allows it. Personally, I would turn of the ringer on Saturday night. Talking is not going to get anywhere. If I talked to them, I would keep them on the phone for as long as possible chatting about anything I could think of. Keep them tied up not calling someone else.

I hate to turn off the ringer in case of family emergency. I do think I will get a can air horn for MY enjoyment. Maybe a wake up call will stop them.

Whatever you choose to do, the most important thing is do not let them get to you. Do not take them personally, and don't let them make you angry. If they get nowhere with you, they will eventually leave you alone becaue they don't have the time to keep calling a nonproductive number.

I have been receiving calls from Encore asking for my adult daughter, who hasn't lived with me for 9 years. Interestingly, I've only had a phone in my name for 10 months. My concern is that I read an article about zombie debt, which cautions people that responding to these agencies can actually activate a debt which has passed the statute of limitations in your particular state. So, how else can someone find out what they want? Does anyone know if asking for a DV will activate a zombie debt?

Every one of you who are receiving harassing calls from Encore, need to sue them! They are in violation of the laws. CAs cannot call with the intent of harassing you. The way to get this company in trouble is to file a complaint and sue!

I have been in a car accident suffered a concussion and then became very sick with H1N1 flu. Encore has been told how sick I was and am and they are continuing to call everyday more than 20 times a day. I asked this time to speak to a supervisor that I was completed a police report for harrassment and they transfered me to an answering machine that was full. By law, they are not supposed to call you more than once a day. If you are on the DONOT CALL LIST they are not supposed to call you at all.

I also want a full report of my bill and charges they claim I owe and they will not provide it.
They have also tried to illegally debit my checking account for payment of $600.00. This reflects on the Company that chose them to do this debt collection.

I pray for them all to have mercy on injured, sick and all people unemployed right now. I have always paid my debts on time and maintained a credit score of 750 and above. To be treated this way now while I am deligently seeking employment to regain my financial independence and pay my debts off is harrassment and I do wish the Owner of the company would advise his staff and employees of the laws in this situation.

No one should be continuously harrassed over a debt they cannot pay over 20 times a day everyday by anyone when they are totally incompacitated from an illness or injury and unable to conduct business or has no income to do so.

God bless them all to not only learn Man's laws but also God's law's.

He, he. They call me all the time now. Encore has this thing about calling you, and the caller ID shows "unknown number." I ask who is calling, and the people on the other end identify themselves as from Encore. I look them up on the net, and I find this forum. Well, people. Thanks for all the information. As for me. I will put the ringer on low. Let them call.

Caller ID masked as "Incoming Call" up to 3 times per hour between 8 am to 9 pm for 3 months now, never leaves message on machine. Recently pick up find out they are looking for someone that is not me, I state this is not a message or contact number for that person and request to have my number removed from call list.....I am abruptly hung up on every time.

Does anyone have an address for this company? Can't find one online so far. Need to draft a Cease and Desist order (must be sent Registered Mail) , then maybe make a conplaints to the BBB and the Attorney General.

Hi I just lost my job in Riverside,CA. I looked at all the sites more times than I'd care to recall and sent off hundreds of resumes. However, i have not been able to find a single good response to my resumes. If anyone knows about particular job site where i can look for a good job, please reply me with the location details. I will be thankful to you for your early response.

I just got a call from encore regarding a past due credit card. I told the lady that I can only pay about $50.00 per month, because my hours at work have been cut, and I have been on diability for the last 6 months, just went back to work but only for 3 days per week.

She told me that I can pay the $50.00 but it will not stop the calls. She did not want to make a payment agreement.

they are a rip off

Don't do any arrangement if they won't put it in writing. As for the calls you can get them to stop by simply sending them a partial cease & desist asking them not to call but to communicate in writing only...you can add that to a debt validation letter. They will either stop contacting you all together, will comply, or will only send letters....it varies...personally I have been able to make a partial cease & desist stick, but others may not.

I have had the experience with Encore of asking for validation on a dubious debt. Two requests, no documentation. It seems that the "debt" has been sold off twice at reduced rates and they hope to be able to shake something out of the situation. I am requesting that they stop contacting me. Also, I have had the same situation as reported elsewhere of robot calls where I only hear part of the message, no return phone #, etc.

i recieved a letter stating what i owed to my credit card company which is correct, the letter states the last four numbers of the account which is correct. the letter states the settlement amount i agreed on and states that if paid this account will be closed as settlement in full. i called my credit card company and they said that if this company had all that info which was correct (my credit card confirmed the correct amounts) then it was all legit, saying that the collectors would not be able to come up with that info inless they were legit. IS IT NOW SAFE FOR ME TO PAY THEM AND THEN THIS IS ALL DONE AND BEHIND ME. my debt was 24k and they are settling for 5k

Be very careful!!!

They could have gotten all that info off your credit report. Check this out:

There are all sorts of devious scams out there. The one referenced above victimized the debtor for over $8,000 and they were all set to reel him in again.
