Encore is a bunch of liars it would seem, they certainly have no idea of the law and don't seem to care. They are not publically traded most likely because they can not meet SEC requirements.

So call the President at their 877-213-1160 number William Higgenbothan, or Stephen Panik (VP) or Stacia Taylor also (VP) see how they like it to be harassed.

Then call the Kansas AG's office 785-296-2215 or 888-428-8436 tell them the illegal act and they will help you. I have found most AGs are not very friendly to collection agencies that break the law. It will take a bit of work but it is a good feeling in the end. Nothing like getting a higher up calling and apologising hoping he won't go to jail.

I to have starting recieving harassing calls, they tell me they sent me a notice (no notice recieved) but yet they refuse to give me their mailing address. they want my personal information but refuse to give me their information. They are in violation of federal laws. "See Federal Fair Collections Act" hopefully the address given on this site is correct I intend to send a cease and decess notice.

Is Encore allowed to pull my credit report without my authorization?? I do not even know who they are. My husband and I are looking to buy a house. After pulling our credit report, I noticed that they pulled my credit on Feb 9, 2009. They did not have my permission. I don't even know who they are and do not have any debt associated with them!!

They could have bought some old junk debt. Are they currently listed on your credit reports? If not, then you can dispute it with the credit reporting agencies, stating that you have no business with them and they do not have a permissible purpose.

Encore calls every 15 minutes. The numbers that show on my ID caller are not real phone numbers. It is an "computer automated calling machine" .. if you answer, they thank YOU for contacting THEM, and then wait (until an operator/collector) come on the line. Only then do you know which debt they are trying to collect on.

GE Money Bank uses them. I missed my payment on March 20th .. by March 22nd I started getting these weird calls all day long. Mervyn's stores went out of business, I've paid down my debt quite a bit....until I lost my job. They don't care, said I should have contacted them before the payment was due. TRUE! But still.... why do they HIDE with bogus phone numbers that show they are from Puerto Rico, Mississippi, Kansas, Missouri, and a 555-555-5555 number? Since I am on a "Do Not Call" list, I don't answer them. I only did out of curiosity... that's when I found out who they were.

Banks and Credit Card companies are getting a big bail-out .. however, they do not extend the courtesy to work with most consumers!

I have been dealing withthese people for over a month now! I have a phone that's in a friends name and yet, they think it's necessary to call this house up to 6 times a day, even on Sundays!! I have about had it. I get very mean with them and tell them that the conversation may be recorded for qualtiy assurances purposes just like they do me.
But what I love is that they WILL not send me a statement or anythig to even tell me who to send a payment to!! I don't get it! plus on top of that, the number comes up Unavailable. So I of course know who it is and answer it and sometimes they put ME on hold after they CALLED ME!! Then you sit there sometimes and then after about 2 minutes of the cheesey elevator music, it hangs up on you. Then if you talk to this one lady, and she doesn't like that I have to ask to call her back, she just hangs up no more said, just click. Can someone tell me if this company is even legal or not. Becuase they are jumping on the lines of straight up harrassment in my world. I know there are debts to be paid, but with the way things are and trying to keep a roof over my kids' heads, well of course MY CHILDREN COME FIRST!! But there has got to be a limit to what they can and can't do. I now have to spend an extra $7.00 a month to block their calls with privacy manager!! Please help!!

Encore callsmy house like 6-7 times a day. I have answered at times...I have hung upon them. They just keep calling. Iasked for their address and they refused. I once was a third party collector and we were told that if you get hung up on that you cant call backfor three days. We were also told we were not allowed to call someones home or work more than three times a day. So if I ma not mistaken they have already violated the FDCPA just by calling me so many times in one day. They have gotten smart and now their number is blocked.....however, I know in the angencies systems they canpull accounts by phone numbers and it will show every time someone has accessed said account...as well as who did it.

Listen up buster....THERE ARE PLENTY USELESS, WORTHLESS, GONNA GO DOWN HILL QUICK BECAUSE THEY DONT KEEP THEIR EMPLOYEES IN CHECK PIECE OF CRAP COLLECTION AGENCIES OUT THERE....YA KNOW LIKE YOURS. AS YOU WERE PREVIOUSLY TOLD READ THE FDCPA AGAIN. ASSUMING THAT YOU HAVE READ IT AND BEEN TESTED. YOU DO REALIZE THAT YOU CAN BE PERSONALLY SUED FOR 1000.00 PER VIOLATION...RIGHT KNOW IT ALL?????? YES YOU DO HAVE TO VALIDATE THE DEBT....WHEN THE CONSUMER ASKS FOR VALIDATION ( I DO BELIEVE THERE IS A SPECIFIED TIME FRAME THEY HAVE TO DO THAT) YOUR AGENCY IS TO GET THAT FROM THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR AND PROVIDE IT TO THE CONSUMER. IF YOU CANT DO THAT....THEN YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE CONSUMER THE HELL ALONE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER THINGS THAT YOU ARENT ALLOWED TO DO. THINK ABOUT THIS LOGICALLY WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO HEAR YALL OUT YOU CANT EVEN ABIDE BY THE SET OF LAWS THAT SPECIFICALLY GOVERNS YOUR COMPANY. I KNOW THAT IS FRUSTRATING AS A COLLECTOR TOBE HUNG UP ON, CURSED OUT, NOT GET YOUR MONEY...BECAUSE I KNOW YALL HAVE GOALS AND I'LL BET YOU MAKE COMMISSION.....BUT GUESS WHAT IT HAPPENS. LET ME GIVE YOU SOME ADVICE BECAUSE I WAS A COLLECTOR FOR 15 YEARS UNTIL MY COMPANY SOLD OUT TO NCO ( THEY ALSO SUCK) AND I QUIT. JUST LIKE A SALES PERSON...THERE REALLY ISNT SUCH A THING AS TALKING A PERSON INTO DOING SOMETHING THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN DOING. SO MOVE ON. CALLING PEOPLE OVER AND OVER IS GONNA DO NOTHING BUT PISS THEM OFF AND THEN YOU WONT GET A DIME. DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHY THIS SET OF LAWS WAS CREATED? YOU NEED TO BRUSH UP OR GET SUED WHATEVER....

Well after reading the posts, I headed the much advice on this page and tonight when Encore called I used the "you are being recorded" line, which was not exactly true since my child was screaming and couldn't get to the in-line cassette recorded. The lady from Encore informed me that it was illegal to record a collections call and I needed to turn my recording device off or face charges. I told her that I refused and she promptly hung up. The second call, 20 minutes later mind you, IN ran through my same spiel and a different encore personel again got irate before hanging up. They have yet to call back. I'm not sure if I'm making head way, but they usually manage a call every 20 minutes from 6:30 am-10:30 pm 7 days a week. Yes you heard that RIGHT, they call 7 days a week. The other funny thing, the account they call about is with GE Money bank. I pay it online and clicked the "contact us" link a few weeks ago. I received a response from GE Money Bank informing me that they handle all their own collections and do not use a third party. Odd is it not? Any ideas how Encore has locked their sights on me? Perhaps cruising the credit reports or received "leaked" information from somewhere?

wow i was suprise after getting so many calls from collections for my brother. A lady called just moments ago and left the number 18887857719 and her name. I was writing the number down and saying it outloud then hung up. My aunt had overheard it and said is that collections for your brother. I was like nah it's just a courtesy call. Gees, I was wrong until I found this forum. Now I know why we've been getting so much calls lately for my brother. It's been really annoying. Now I'ma grill him for being irresponsible with cc's and make him do something about it. He's the kind of person who uses cc's freely and acts like it's nothing. And I know my parents are gonna go berserk when they find out because my mom would always pick up the calls not knowing what's going on. They're frustrated with the calls already. Now I've turned the ringer off and don't care whoever calls.

Hi. I'm a new Collection Care Representative of Encore Receivable Management. I will be starting this May 11, 2009. I must tell you I am quite surprise by your stories. I can't believe I'll be working in that kind of company.

I'll try to answer some of your questions when I'm on their system already.

Later!
