We do acknowledge a Cease and Desist Letter to stop "annoying calls" but if I were you, I'd face my problem and not hide from it. Harassment is considered as such if the person feels that way. Feel free to talk to us expressing your concern, tell us the reason past due and I'm sure we could come up with a solution to that problem, seek options for your delinquent account, we have a lot of those. We understand if you're filing for Bankruptcy give us the information of your attorney. Its easy! You don't need to feel harassed, agents at ENCORE are very well trained and highly knowledgeable of FDCPA.

So I am getting these calls, I assumed it was because another company was using scare tactics on me and instead of reporting them to the FDCPA I reported them to my good-ole boy sheriff. The calls stopped, than these started, coming from 000-000-0000. Now I am behind on a couple cc's but am dealing with the company GE Money or will when my time is up apparently they can't help until you are 90 or 120 days past due even when you try to tell them unless they lower the payments you won't be able to make them. In any case these jokesters call alot , and I think I will mail a cease and decist order to them, course I know exactly where they are out off, lets hope they listen to this one. I have enough to deal with due to ill children I won't take this crap anymore I figure my credit is in the crapper been to jail before so if they want they can come get it, just be ready for the consequences. I believe all americans should just stop paying and use their hard cash for their transactions from now on. If credit card companies are getting bailed out why do we have to pay them twice?

you're an idiot.
i get call after call with no message left, and when i pick up the phone before it goes to VM, no one speaks. Since I don't own anyone anything, and because I have gotten other collection calls on this line for the person who used to have the number, I KNOW they are calling me in error. But they are too stupid and obnoxious to even give me a way to TELL THEM THAT!!

You should know that when you plug your fax machine or play obnoxious sounds you are not annoying anyone, as calls are generated by a computer program. A collections agent picks up a call from the queue ONLY when a voice answers the call.
Otherwise, some of the comments posted here are very innocent from people that have not taken the time to read ANY of the federal laws governing debt collection. On the other hand half of the violations to federal debt collection laws by debt collectors are a product of either lazyness or mediocrity in the actual individual collector, while the other half is a product of corporate policy governed by greed.

Encore has been calling me at all hours of the day and night . The person they are trying to reach does'nt even live in my home.I,ve explained this to them, and they still keep calling. I do know that this is illegal,as I neither cosigned, nor was I used as a referance. Please stop the calls. You are interupting my sleep. I have none of my creditors calling me. and i do not appreciate your calls.

Encore has repeatedly called us and we have no delinquent accounts and the name that they are looking for is not even close to ours, yet they persist.

I started receiving calls from an unknown number about a month ago. I knew it was a collections agency, I have a large amount of medical bills from med. problems while uninsured, student loans, car payment, rent, etc., as well as only making a quarter of what I made 2 years ago because of the bum economy. I try my best to pay all of my bills on time, but sometimes it's absolutely impossible. Now Encore is calling me. I know this only because I finally got a person on the other end and was able to obtain who they were, what account they were calling about, and an address. Now, here's the fun part. I have been receiving up to 20 calls PER DAY, many before the 8am limit. I have never received anything in writing from them, and when I last checked, the account they are calling about, while behind, is still listed with GE as something they are working with. I am definately a person who wants to pay my bills, and is very willing to work with creditors to fix things, but this is getting rediculous. I am preparing to send a debt validation letter (to verify these are the people who are supposed to be collecting this debt) and a cease and desist letter to stop the insesant calls. After this, what do I do next?

Don't try calling the Kansas office, you will just get a security guard who will give you the call center number in the Philippines, 866-247-1087, and it just gets more frustrating from there.

I had a cc charge off after I asked the company to be put on a no call list and that I would pay as soon as I am able to do so. Soon afterward I got a call from Encore Re. and they acted like they were the cc company who I had previously dealt with. They asked me to verify my info address, last 4 digits of ss, etc. they said they will reduce the amount of debt to help me out if they could after I answer a few questions. I thought they were legit cc company and like a dumbarzz I answered them. The next day I received a letter to pay such and such to Encore...then I realized that is who called me. Now what ? do they have the info they need? What should I expect next??????????????

Yes they acknowledge CD letters they acknowledge they don't acknowledge them. They say face your problems "we are" you're not listening! Harassment is what it is you can't change what it is by saying it is only if a person feels a certain way. You are HARASSING PEOPLE. Yes talk with Encore they want your information to use against you twisted. Their solution is to tell you to get a job or sell stuff...we don't care just pay up bubb! Ever hear of getting blood from a turnip? Tell us the information for your attorney pleeeez! If I've got an attorney you will hear from them if you are LEGIT. You may be knowledgeable of FDCPA too bad for you that you train your people to ignore it.
