Has anyone heard of or had any dealings with a collection agency called First National Collection Bureau, they are in NV. They are contacting me about an old debt that I believe is out of sol. How should I deal with this?

Have you given them any information regarding this debt? And are they contacting you via phone, or mail? You can always send a validation request letter out to them, and find out the exact nature of the debt, as well as find out if they even own this debt.

No, I haven't given them any info and they are sending me the requests via mail only. I haven't responded to them yet.

Make sure everything is covered in the validation letter. In the sample letter that you can send out, you can also request for their licensing information. If the SOL has passed, then you are no longer legally held liable.

SOL can only be restarted if you pay them or sign any contract of payment. You can tell them that since the debt is out of SOL, they should stop collecting it b/c you are no more legally obliged to pay it.

First find out what the statute of limitations is for your state. Send the agency a letter (return receipt) demanding validation of the debt, as is your right under the fdcpa. Demand that they show that you have some contractual obligation to pay them, not that they simply have your name and address.

Just in case you may have aquired the debt in another state check the SOL for that state.
Unfortunately they can go by the state that has the longest SOL

I received a letter from them yesterday on an old store credit card that had dropped off my credit report (past the S.O.L. timeframe). I am going to send them a letter to tell them "too late".

Just because the SOL is up doesn't mean they have to stop collection attempts, it just means they cannot take legal action against you. They can continue to try and collect the debt forever, their options are just limited to calling and mailing.

As I found out today, they may not be able to take legal action against you, but they can (and will) put a blot on your credit.
I'm just paying them off to make it go away.
