This is typical for such companies. We as consumers must educate ourselves. For the person who they refuse to take a money order, send it and see it they return it. If they return the payment, this is the point you definitiely contact an attorney. Unless, the law has recently changed, if a company refuses payment, you no longer owe the bill. Also, in my experiences, I have never paid a collection agency. Although the accounts were referred to the agency, I dealt only with the company itself. I continued to get the phone calls with the serious threats, however, it is all just a lot of hot air. These companies are out to make what little money off of these accounts that they can. That is why the bills are more than the amount indicated by the original company. The collection company will lose money if they take you to court. And never give them your personal information. These companies do not hire the best people in that they do not pay their people a descent wage and rarely ever offer any benefits.
