DO NOT SETTLE WITH THESE PEOPLE. They will offer you a settlement and set up payments. When you get through paying the agreed settlement, they will tell you they made a mistake and that you have to pay more. They are con-artist! I will file for bankruptsy before paying them a dime. Also, it really pisses them off when you call them about fifteen times a day and screw with them. It doesn't get anything done, but it's fun.

I have been giving $100.00 payment for the past year. this month i was not able to make pyment because my husband lost his job. i changed my home number in Jan. so they have no way of contacting me. what these rude people did is somehow found my niece that i have not seen for 4 months and started to harrass her looking for me. She is 17 years old and they are calling her cell phone. I have this rule that i do not give out relatives #'s. so how the HELL did they get mine????

I too have gotten callls from 866-241-3237. I called their toll free #, 877-362-8766 and was told they were trying to contact a person whom I don't know. So, she said she would remove my number from their list.

I hope this helps. We will see.

Sub: #166 Being called several days every week

A collection agency that informed me that they are handling my debt collection has been calling several times per week. They have also called what they call my contacts. Is there a letter I can write to have them stop calling myself & the contacts? I have been in contact with them recently & had set up certain amount of payment for 3 months then we would go from there.
The original agreement was to pay with automatic deduction from my bank account. However I don't think I trust them knowing so much of my business. If I tell them I wish to pay with a cashiers check & they refuse that offer is my bill then considered paid? Can they refuse a payment if it is not their terms or way?
If they stopped bugging me so much I would feel better about paying the bill. I do intend to pay the debt, but cannot pay large amounts or even the same amount each month. My pay is not the same each pay period. Somehow they don't seem to understand that if I could afford to I would pay the whole thing off in the first place & that I still have to feed family & pay other bills. Do these collectors get some sort of commission for what the collect each month? If so no wonder they are so ruthless.
Also when they do send a statement the balance never reflects a decreased total. The person I spoke with last said she could offer to lower the total by half, but I never got that in writing & it has not reflected that way on the statements of the past 3 months. Are they scamming me? What can I do to make sure the money I send is actually going to pay down this debt? Can I send payment to the original service provider? If so how can I be sure they are putting the money toward that debt? This is very overwhelming for me, but still trying to get it paid off.

I would like some guidance to what is legal for me to require from them if anything. I have been reading some of the other Q & A's on here, but nothing seems to fit my situation.
Thank you for any help you can be.
I am sitting down now to try to compose a letter to them.

I received a call from Focus Receivables Management, LLC. They left a message on Saturday and I tried to call them back within about 10 minutes and I got a message to call back during normal business hours. I finally got through and had to give them my home phone number, and they gave me a name I told them I dont know him, I told the lady I tried to call before and she said I didnt talk to her and then she laughed and hung up. I am going to send a letter to the corporate address and make a complaint, If anyone wants to do the same the lady I talked to was named Elizabeth. The company needs to be shut down or reprimanded.

Focus Receivables Management LLC is a collection agency. They are prohibited by law from identifying themselves as a collection or receivable agency. They are only interested in getting you to pay a bill. They don't want arguments, they don't want explanations, they only want money. If you don't owe anybody money they will eventually give up. If they think you do, you'll probably have to pay or sue to get rid of them.

For the past several weeks their robo-caller was (and still is) leaving messages on my land-line answering machine on a daily basis. Since I have NO debt next to my name, it is highly likely that they can't shoot straight. Obviously a very stupid company that doesn't do their homework to verify their "customer" information.

This number keeps calling me too, and I don't owe anyone. My patience with them is wearing thin. I just have to figure out a way to give them a "Pavlovian" lesson so they'll associate my number with pain (legal or financial) and never want to call it again.

In my state (Michigan) it is legal to record any conversation you're a part of without the knowledge or consent of the other party.

Take the recording and hold their feet to the fire. Tell em' a verbal contract was made (and documented through recording) and that's all you're going to pay them, and if they persist they'll be sued in YOUR court system (several states away and at great expense).

Changing a deal is actionable, especially if you can prove it with a recording.

Im not paying so they can just keep on calling & make all the threats they want. they say i owe 9300 for a auto deficiency. well if it were not for this bad economy and job layoffs at my work I wouldnt have had to turn in my lease early or infact if chrysler who is getting millions of bailout money would have let me pay my payment late or even defer 1 payment i would have been fine but no they dont care about their customers. what ever happened to the saying if your in trouble making your payments then call your creditors they will work with you huh!!!!!!!!!!!! I was 2 weeks late only 2 weeks had been a customer for 13 yrs and a good one otherwise they wouldnt have kept approving my loans then they turn on me for 1 late payment. well they can kiss me where the sun dont shine. say they will attach my disaposable income ha where is that i could surely use it. I say who is going to bail all of us hard working americans that have lost so much of our retirement 401ks and our jobs, can you tell me that ???????????????????

I have also been getting numerous calls from 866-664-2513. Does'nt this
company realize that many of us have done a Google search on the number and have seen the long list of complaints. Furthermore, I have caller ID as I'm
sure others do. The bottom line is that they can call until they are blue in the
face. I will never take their call.

The best medicine for this and other collection agencies if you're living in California is to just not respond or react to these calls. You simply do not want to acknowledge you are the person that they are looking for. In the state of California, the statute of limitations on bad debts is only 3 years and collection agencies outside the state have no recourse whatsoever. They must abide by California law and cannot apply their state's laws to Californians. Caller id is wonderful. I just let it ring and go to voice mail. They never leave a message so its no worries. The ball is bounced right back into their court without much they can do about it. Just do not answer or acknowledge.
