We have heard only these few in this forum. You can research for some online. But it is very tough to consolidate payday loans. Sometimes, the consolidation companies are not working with payday lenders and sometimes the opposite.

It is better to contact your lenders and arrange a payment plan. They will be willing to arrange a plan if you stick to it. Remember, the faster you clear this loan, the quicker you will be able to re-shape your credit identity. Advance them some money if they are unwilling to work with you. But you have to make every step to clear this faster.

And never take a payday loan in the future. You might have experienced all the troubles of taking it. Consider taking these loans only if you are sure to pay it back within the next payday otherwise, the revolving costs are the most expensive thing around. An interest charged on a $300 loan for six months if kept in the bank would have added more money to it.

Hi Deanna

CCCS are non profit groups that can be found in each and every state. They will help you in developing a reasonable budget with your creditors and offer credit guidance. They might charge a very low fee for their services but in most of the states, there services are free.

Also, you can talk with your employer and see if they can provide you any help. There are some credit unions or housing authority that can also offer these credit counseling programs.

Google CCCS along with the name of the state where you are residing. You will get the list of counseling agencies in your area.

I have contacted them over the phone and they claimed they would work with payday loan companies and their collection agencies. He made a 1.5 year plan to pay off all my loans (over 10 payday loans). I have not started the program yet. I would also like to hear about people's experiences with CCCS and payday loans.

Kam,

Please do get this agreement in writing. Also research on the company in the BBB, FTC as well as the state attorney general office and check out if they have any consumer complaints filed against them.

Make sure that you get a financial statement every month showing your pay off to the lenders. In short, be pro-active so that problems don't arise later.

I thought CCCS was a nationwide, well-known non-profit credit counseling organization. Do I still need to check on them?

Kam

I am using a phrase here that I heard in my childhood, "A stitch in time saves a nine"

Prevention is always better than cure. So, a check won't be that much time consuming. You never know, you might come to know something that would have caused financial injury later.

Ben,

I checked CCCS Arizona with BBB and they have been registered with them since 2004 and no complaints so far.

However, I have not signed up with them yet to pay my payday loans and they already tried to debit my checking account without my authorization. The counsellor on the phone got my routing and account number, however, no ACH withdrawal is authorized without the account owner's signature. Otherwise, anyone who has my account number can debit it!!!! This is outrageous!! This is fraud! I did not expect this kind of practice from CCCS. This is unacceptable! I have not signed one paper with CCCS yet.

CCCS hasn't even started negotiating with the creditors yet. Doesn't a consolidation firm have to start negotiating with the creditors first in order to reduce or eliminate interest?! Thank God the transaction was bounced back (although I suffered NSF fee). But where would the money have gone if it wasn't bounced back??!!

Correction: I am talikng about CCCA and not CCCS. No wonder I look like a fool. CCCA is nothing like the well-known CCCS. That's it! I will put a stop payment on any attempts from CCCA to debit my account and warn my bank of fraudulent activities on my checking account.

How do I pay off a payday loan without the finance charges adding up constantly. I pay a little extra each month but then new charges keep adding on. So I feel like I'm going around in circles. Should I just let them process the checks until it gets to the point where I can make arrangements to pay it off and no more charges are added. They can only debit my account once and only if it is under 30 days.
