I go an email from a company saying I could get a loan. The name is Home Loan Point. Has anyone out there heard of this one?

Deacon,
Welcome to forums
The company Home Loan Point is not listed with BBB. Thus it is tough to anticipate how much reliable this company is. Anyway, before you should proceed with them, I would suggest to do some research. FTC provides some tips on how to judge if a lender is legit or not. Please go through FTC's guide and learn how to protect yourself from the clutches of unethical companies.

Stay away from Home Loan Point. They will only sell your name address and phone number to sub-prime lenders and then keep spamming you using different domain names. I am receiving at least 5 spam messages a day using different domain names from their "associates". Funny, the email, phone number and beginning segment of the url are still the same until they move on to another virtual office. All of the phone numbers listed are answering services. All of the physical addresses are "virtual offices" or mail drops that simply forward the mail. The guy behind this is an attorney in Costa Rica.
Do you really want to do business with this sort?

I am in the mortgage business. My advise...find a lender that is licensed to do business in your state and listed with the BBB

You may also want to watch your credit report if they sell your information. Companies might hit your credit report without your acknowledgement and this could lower your credit score. This happened to me when I applied for a car loan a couple of years ago because I didn't read the fine print. I had seven hits on my credit report from different lenders in a matter of days. It really hurt my credit score for awhile. I was only able to remove a couple of the hits through disputing through the credit bureaus. Remember that these types of inquiries stay on your credit reports for two years.
