I got a phone call today from a company called 1st National Group and a man named George LePage. Wonder of all wonders I am approved for a $5,000.00 loan that I NEVER applied for. OK, I need the money, so I started asking questions. a $200.00 payment for 2 years at 7% interest. The numbers don't add up. OK, I have to send $900.00 to them to secure it....HUH? Just like you he kept putting me on hold after every question, like he had to search for the answers. I told him no way. After 10 minutes I got to thinking, ok if it's real they could take the money from the loan right? I called back, no they can't do that. To make a long story short I told him to fax me the contract, then contacted the financial institute for my state. They are waiting for the info and are going to file papers with the secret service to prosecute him!!! That's one for the good guys!

Most of the advance fee loans are scam, especially when they call you or send proposals by their own. You have done the right thing by saying NO. Do some research on ‘advance fee loan, ftc alert' and you will get enough info on them.

Unfortunately I didn't do my research and Senteric Mutual got me. I was so desperate that I was just glad I was approved. I did everything they asked including sending money eventhough it was supposedly an unsecured loan. They kept coming up with more reasons why I needed to send more money. I finally told them to send me my money back. I waited and called and sent emails and no one would respond. I kept calling the number and kept getting this weird message about their universal account being closed. I went to BBB site and saw this company had 5 other complaints against them and there was no resolution. I then stumbled upon this site. I think it is absolutely digusting how this company takes advantage of people who are already in a bad situation and then makes it worse. This has taught me a valuable lesson. Always do my research!

Also file complaint with BBB, FTC and Attorney General of your state. It will initiate an investigation against them.

Has anyone heard of Carlton Financial Group? Are they one of the scam companies too? They contacted me, but only after applying for loans on line, and offered a $6,000 unsecured loan. Of course they wanted 3 payments up front. Awaiting contract papers to be emailed to me as this all took place today. Their email address is Carltonfinancialgroup.net, supposedly in Baltimore, MD. I couldn't find them listed with the BBB on line.

Didn't do Carlton Financial Group loan.....very shady. I'm going to close my checking account as soon as I get it to a positive balance, currently is -$650, and deal with the pdl companies individually. Unfortunately I'm going to get hit with $1,600 worth of pdl debits against my account again next Friday putting me further into a negative balance. I really don't know how to handle this. I hate I'm gonna get hit with $1,600 worth of pdl withdrawals at one time.

radec2, how will you manage to close your checking account if the PDL Company keeps on debiting your account making it even worse? Talk with the ACH dept and if possible, put a stop payment so that the company is not able to debit money from your account.

I guess if this can be the only solution in order to recuperate from the present situation.

I was able to put a freeze on my current account so no activity could take place and I opened another account with the same bank. When I get paycheck on Friday I will bring the old account to a zero balance and close it and put the balance in the new account. The bank is working with me.

Ok, so with all these untrustworthy companies around trying to make those who are in financial trouble in even worse shape, are there companies out there who will offer unsecured loans to the tune of about $25,000.00????

DO NOT deal with Carlton Financial! Like a few comments on the site I was desperate and they do take advantage of desperate situations. I lost over 2100.00 to these jerks and I am on a fixed income. The person who originally contacted me was "Samantha Hamid". She did not do the job so I was referred to her "supervisor" Michael Stewart",he again needed more money and then I spoke with his "supervisor" Mr Feltman". These people sound very professional and they do prey on the desperate. The company was in Maryland and they are now in Canada. All numbers have been disconnected and they have my money. I cannot get my money back. If any one has a good phone number for these scammers it would be appreciated. I have contacted Phone Busters in Canada and I plan to put it on tv in Canada. The number they have listed on the website is disconnected. They are using the name of a ligitimate company based in England. What Jerks!!!

I have run across a company called GA Trust Financial. Same story as the others only a different version. I was told that I was approved for a $15,000.00 loan but since I was in the "high-risk" category, I needed to send $1500.00 down and that the money would be sent to me within 48 hours. I did a search on them and it seems as if the money is never sent. However, I did request research done on them with the Better Business Bureau. Those of you that have been scammed need to report it and hopefully get some of these slowed down. The email address is bbb.org
