Hello all,
first off, I just want to say that this is a GREAT forum, so much valuable information!! So glad I came across this board. You guys/gals are great!
I too have recently (11/30) been contacted by a law firm specializing in debt retrieval who is working with LVNV. Here is the deal, LVNV acquired my debt from another CA on 11/30/06 - the balance was 4200.00 when it left the previous CA's hands. Now, a week later, this law firm representing LVNV claims that the balence is 4975.00. I call this firm and asked them to give me the specific address to LVNV (since as you know, there are several), and said that I cannot contact them directly, and that I can only deal with this firm?? I explained that I wanted to send LVNV a debt validation form to verify the balance, and they said to send it to them (the firm). The first thing this firm said to me when I questioned the balance was that I had a pre-interest loan. I looked at the terms/conditions of my CC company and nowhere did I see any reference to a 'pre-interest loan' I need a search for the term on the web and nothing . . . I just don't understand how the balance can jump $700 dollars in 1 week. Just to confirm the reply above, does a CA have the right to add interest? If so, what is the maxium interest that they can add?
Thanks in advance!
