so people have all asked for a validation and it sounds like not 1 of you have got the legit answer. i tried doing that a long time ago, and now im out looking at my credit closing unused accounts and this is on there.. what the heck? seems like i can do nothing to cease this place. my situation is also from something that was paid off fully, sounds like most people here.

You can send a debt validation letter to LVNV funding, then, when they don't validate, dispute with the three credit reporting agencies. Good Luck..KAren

These LVNV clowns are debt purchasers. They purcharse old debts for pennies on the dollar. Check your state's SOL. Never pay them anything or it might restart the SOL.

Teressa- I am sorry for all the problems that you are having, but glad that you are out of the abuse! LVNV is a junk debt buyer, who breaks alot of fdcpa regulations. I have been dealing with them, or one of their many other agencies for a year now. Be sure and show up in court on the date provided. Bring with you your divorce decree, and any other paper work you may have. I read another post where they had taken someone else to court, and they (lvnv) didn't show up, so maybe you'll get lucky! Keep us posted on what happens, we are here to support you Karen

They took me to court. They showed up the 1st time and spoke with me alone before hearing to try and get me to settle but I did not agree with any amounts they showed me.. They were not happy but i told them I wanted to go before the judge.Once in with judge they asked for continuance ,apparently because they did not have the validation I had asked for.2 months later at next hearing they did not show but continue to call daily. They will not let up on thematter no matter what.I would suggest if they do show up at hearing and talk to you alone do not agree to anything unless you are 100% sure amounts and such are correct, and whatever you do do not let them scare you into anything. And do not say more then you have to if anything when and if they get you alone. If its to this point, let the judge decide after you explain your side to him..Good Luck and let us know how it goes!

Beware...Lvnv Funding has many different names....they will shuffle the same account around between different companies trying to collect off of it when it is really all one collection agency

Beware of Lvnv Funding....once you dispute the debt with whatever attorney's office they are using...you'll start recieving collection notices from another company....mine is Sherman....they are all the same company...everytime you dispute, you'll receive another letter from someone else...they are all the same collection agency...it's a vicious circle. I have been doing this for 9mo now.

I didn't go back and read the post but a divorce decree does not resolve responsibility if a debt is made with your SSN# durring the marriage. They can still come after you.

When that happens you are going to have to take your ex-spouse back to court to make him/her take care of the account the way it was supposed to have been in the first place and even then it's not always successful. Yes it sucks but all you can really do is sue them for the debt.

I got a letter stating I owed money for a debt that I don't even have. It also doesn't show on my credit report. What could this be?

BHB and all,
I got the same letter last week and been receiving phone calls with an automated message almost everyday for the past few weeks, but my letter was sent by Worldzen Collection and Recovery, LLC. I am retired, on social security with no credit cards or any loans whatsoever.

The first line of the letter states:

"Your Nations Bk Account which was purchased by our Client LVNV Funding LLC has been listed with our office for Collection."

They are saying that I owe them $3812. First of all, I know for a fact that I do not owe anyone anything. And second, I don't even know what Nations Bk is. I tried looking them up, but couldn't even find any legitimate looking information.

I checked with TransUnion and Equifax, and they said there is no record of anything on my credit report since I have never applied or had a credit card, nor did I ever apply for any loans or anything.

Reading all these negative statements about Worldzen and LVNV made me think twice about calling them. I'm 79 and retired, I don't need to deal with this crap!

To those who have more insight in these situations, what should my next course of action be?

Thanks

I would write them a request for debt validation letter. Since you are sure you don't owe anything, also send them a cease and desist letter, stating you only want to be contacted by mail. This company is well know for doing this, and harassment. Since you have checked your credit report you know it probably isn't identity theft, with someone opening something up in you name. If you have any questions, please ask..Karen

This company is reporting on my credit report an amount that has added intrest, after a judgement. The original creditor has never filed a Mem of cost after judgement, so how can this company keep adding intrest. Due to three reporting agency's the amount is more that trippled on my report, thats including the judgement amount. How can I get help. LVNV keeps updating the last update Date, when the original judgement date is approx 3 years older. It is all effecting my score, and I am trying to clean everything up.

I paid off my account to Old Navy in early 2006. I had to in order to re-finance. Before that time the account was transfered numerous times to different collection agencies, Old Navy, 1st Revenue Assurance, northland group, LVNV and now to Resurgent Capital. My payment went to 1st Revenue. Since then it has been deemed "Paid and Closed" on my credit report. The problem is, is that I'm still getting collection letters from Northland Group and now Resurgent for this paid account. Could it be that collection agencies sell clients to other collection agencies, and the "right hand isn't telling the left hand" what happened with this account! How do I correct this problem, it's very frustrating with these people still bugging me when it's paid!!! The original debt was owed to Old Navy. Should I just keep mailing a copy of my credit report to these agencies, or how can I finally stop them. Seems I get one satisfies with proof, then the very next month I have yet another agency wanting this money that I already paid. What gives?
