I called them at 866-861-8182. I was redirected to # 800-365-7107. I asked the operator to give me the right address so I can send them the cheque for the amount that is showing on my moms credit, which she has no idea where is that from. The operator asked me my moms Social Security. I asked her why do you want the number now. I just want to send you the cheque. She said we have several addresses. Do they have any main office.

dont ever call these debt collectors! dont ever give them private info of yours or anyone elses!!! don't ever send them any money-you are not paying the original credior you are trying to pay someone that has bought the debt for pennies and hopes to basically "trick" you into paying money to them you don't owe them.
hope you didn't give your moms ss#! you've got to use your head more on this stuff. why would they need your moms #?? the only thing they can do is ruin your moms credit, and put your debt, and they will! on her credit report, etc. and yes they make mistakes all the time at the credit bureau's and will and could actually have your ss# and your debts on her acct. very very hard to remove too.
you need to research this site ALOT more and see what these bottom feeders, debt collectors, are all about. most do illegal things and lvnv is one of the very worst!
you need to research about these people, DEFINITELY find out how to send them a debt validation letter and all the details about that-lots of examples of letters on here for diff uses-within the 30 days of receiving one of their letters, how to mail & get a signature card returned for legal reasons, etc. too much for me to type and more experienced people on here i am sure to help you. but you should do the research yourself and EDUCATE yourself on these things.
get your annual, and most of the time free credit reports from all 3 bureaus and check out whats on there.
you sound young and maybe out of the states? (cheque instead of check?) but it is never too early to start learning this. this is a unfortunately big business and our government allows it. so you have to be aware or you will end up with possibly judgments/lawsuits, and alot of neg info on your credit report.
good luck

Would you mind identifying the players here, please? LVNV is at the center of an unbelievably convoluted web of fronts, shell companies, and such.

Many Jane Elliot is a debt collector that reguarly goes after old debts in michigan beyond the 6 year michigan deadline for collecting back debts. Go to court with her when you get sued and you will easily win more than likely they will not show up.

Ugh this company showed up on my credit report and is calling me at work. This was for a Lowe's card that went into collections because I lost my job, but I already paid it off in August of 2009 but they are insisting that it is valid and I owe them money but they are not the company I paid. Now they are calling me at work and being very rude. It is only $375 but I do not want to give them money for something I already paid. I called the company I did pay but they weren't very helpful. Help what do I do to get them off of my credit and to stop harassing me at work.

I disputed them on my bureau(s) and they could not validate the debt therefore were removed.
