MCYDSNB credit card/VISDSNB - How to remove it from credit report?

The name of VISDSNB (Visa Department Store National Bank) may pop-up in your credit report if you have applied for a credit card through the store line of Federal departmental stores, one such card is Macy's card.

When you set up an account with any of the federal departmental stores, they may also create a parallel visa account along with the original one. Hence, if you're trying to close the account with Macy, make sure that you close both the accounts at the same time. Otherwise, you may keep accumulating debts on the other account.

However, if you're sure that you have no relation whatsoever with Macy or any other Federal Departmental Stores, you have the option to dispute the entry with the Credit Reporting Agencies. Here are the contact details of the three credit bureaus

  • Equifax (800-685-1111) (www.equifax.com )
  • Experian (888-397-3742) (www.experian.com )
  • TransUnion (800-888-4213) (www.transunion.com)
Amongst the three, Equifax also offers the facility to dispute online. You can register your complaint by filling-up the form available in their site.

To dispute with the credit bureaus, you're required to send them a letter requesting them to investigate into the questionable accounts. You should mention your name, address, SSN and the accounts details those you'd like to dispute, in the letter.

After receiving your dispute letter, the CRA will probe into the matter. If they can't establish the account, they'll wipe the item off your report. However, along with the CRAs, you should also send a letter of debt validation to the creditor.

This just happened to me also. I googled VIDSNB and this page came up. I'm pretty freaked out about having an account I know nothing about, but I did let the credit bureau know that I'm unawares. Should I put up a fraud alert?
Thanks.

Sub: Why VISDSNB shows up on credit report?

VISDSNB is joined with Federated Stores when you set up a store account, there is the store account, and then they set up another visa account that is linked to the card, so you have to make sure they close both accounts, or just one of them.

Almost all credit card companies will report the consumer accounts to the bureaus. If you are unaware about any of the account specifically, send a letter to the company as well as the CRA and query about the entry.

Insist on getting a statement in writing about the closure of the account. This will be a helpful and valid proof of your dispute being settled.

I have the same

visdsnb
MCYDSNB credit card

I think when we signed up for a Macy's card they "threw" in a visa. I guess I'll have it removed, though doesn't it hurt my score to remove it/lower total amount of credit available.

2cool4skool, you must send a letter to the company inquiring about this entry. In the recent times, I have heard many others complaining about the same issue. This entry suddenly popped up in a large number of credit files. The CRA must be getting large number of complaints on this issue. So, they must have thought about an alternative. You need to dispute on this item with the CRA as well.

Jokey, there are three national Consumer Reporting Agencies(CRA) that frame millions and millions of consumers credit files. You can also put a copy of your credit file and know the latest standing of your credit history. Contact each or all of them at the following phone numbers:

Equifax (800-685-1111) (www.equifax.com)
Experian (888-397-3742) (www.experian.com)
TransUnion (800-888-4213) (www.transunion.com)

MCYDSNB credit card is the company that handles Macy's and all other Federated Stores credit cards. Many of you probably have an account with Macy's or one of the affiliated stores. I would imagine that you can remove it only upon closing the particular account.

lilmoney,

Dispute the entry with credit bureaus. Roxette has posted a sample letter above. You can use this in a personalized form.

Or if you wish to dispute online, view this page to know the procedure in details-
