Default Settle Account

I would like to settle on this account for $1000.00. Can you please send me a settlement letter so that I can pay off this account? I have been asking for this letter for months. No one has responded yet.

Default They are telling me I owe money, which I already paid off...

I have Midland Collection showing on my credit report which is listed from Spiegel. I paid the full amount off in May or June of 2004. They are telling me that I may have paid them but it was posted late and that the $365 that I owe is the accumulated service fees for it posting late. I have asked for them to send me the information showing this and the woman at the other end tells me I need to send them the information. How can I go about getting a detailed copy of what they say I owe?

Default debt validation letter

What should be included in this letter. I purchased a vehicle from another company around 2002. The loan company I used had a very high interest rate & I was ignorant about credit then. Well, needless to say, the vehicle began having electrical problems, so I tried to trade it on another vehicle, but it wasn't worth the balance I owed on it. So, I voluntarily gave the vehicle up for reposession. Then MCM decides to take over the debt. I've tried to pay them monthly in the past, but my balance never seems to change for the better. Any suggestions ar

Default To Frustrated with Spiegel account

Don't send them anything as you said you owed spiegel not MCM . If they are stupid enough to buy debts not paid to others they deserve to loose the 2 cents they pay for every dollar of debt they buy . Debt collectors are the lowest form of life there is . I have more respect for the guy that cleans the rest stop bathroom. sounds like you were fair and paid your debt . That was your first mistake you are the kind they go after most . Sadly it is those that are out to get over that have the least problems . like they say Birds of a feather .

Default They called for ex-wife, she never had this #

I get home this evening, notice their was an Unknown caller this afternoon & 1 from yesterday as well. About 5:30 MCM calls & asks for my Ex-wife. I told him she doesn't live here, she never lived here, we are divorced & I haven't talked to her in years. The guy hangs up on me, which upset me. An hour or so later who would call but MCM, again asking for my ex-wife. I layed into that S.O.B. for calling again after telling them she's not here, never has been. He was ready to hang up, & I asked for his supervisor, he wanted to know why, I told him I wanted to make sure no more calls were made here. I did get his "supervisor" Brian Howard (much less of an accent than either of the 2 callers). I explained why I was upset, asked before not to be called for her, got his # 800-265-8825 ext 53824 ( in case I lose the paper (it's my electronic copy)). He promised no one would call from MCM for her at that number again. I should have asked how my # came up since she never lived at this address/phone #, or state. He asked for my name which I gave & hone # since it was transferred to him he said the # didn;t transfer, who knows maybe he is selling my #. The next collector that a calls I'm going to ask why they thought she was at this #. I guess I wasn't on the collection as after I layed into them they apologized up 1 side & down the other, really made me question if they were caught calling numbers they knew they shouldn't be.

Default MCM harrassing wrong person

My husband has been contracted by phone many times about an outstanding account that isn't his. He has repeatedly told them they have the wrong person. Wrong middle initial/wrong social sercurity number. Now they are sending letters threatening a lawsuit if the account is not paid in full.
I have tried speaking to customer service to complain and their agent has hung up on me twice. Help. How do I stop this?

Smile Statue of limitations when moving to another state...

Has anyone been sued by the company? I opened a credit card account back in 2004 and i defalted on the account in 2005. MCM bought the account and they were sending me collection letters when i used to live in WA state. I never reply to them and they never called me. Five months ago i move to California and what do you know they found out that i live in L.A and now they are calling me everyday.. I spoke with a guy today and i told him that the statue of limitations had expired but he told me that since i used to live in WA state the SOL is six years.. I told him that i live in california and that the statue of limitation in california is four years but he told me that my account is under WA SOL.. Is this true? Well he told me i was wrong and that he was going to enter in the account that i'm refusing to pay. He was polite... but one thing that is bugging me now is this.... He told me once again that i was wrong about my statue of limitation and then he said GOOD LUCK!!.. I wonder if they are planing on suing me.. I owe them 1100 dollars.. Any advice? Not sure if i should call them again and try to work something with them or should i wait and see if i get serve?

Folks,

1. Never acknowledge the debit.
2. Ask if they are licensed to collect in your state.
3. Find out what the statue of limitation for your state is. Doesn’t matter where your card/debit is located. If beyond statue you have nothing to worry about they MCM cannot collect the alleged debit. If you are served to appear in court the burden falls on them. State to the judge it is beyond the statue of limitation and he/she will state case dismissed.
4. Stay calm and focused. The big bad wolf is on the phone and cannot get you. Turn the tables and kill them with kindness.
5. MCM is not or any other collection agency to contact you at your place of employment. Against Fair Credit Collections, Report them if they persist and document days and time and person if you can understand their name.
6. Document, Document!!!!
7. The book Debit Cures is a good read and I recommend to anyone facing collection wolves, it is the best tool I have found to be the most informative tool to help me fight off the wolves and keep my sanity.
8. If more than one agency is reporting to the credit bureaus about the same alleged debit write a letter to the agencies, only one can report according the Fair Credit Act.
9. I recommend Free Credit Report.com

the book debt cures is a SCAM.the info in that book you find here.also freecreditreport.com requires enrollment in triple advantage.so it's not entirely free.also kevin trudeau is a scam artist that takes your info and debits for some stupid club you never join, but thanks for the info.

You can order Debit Cures for $10 on E-bay and it gives you the writing tools that keep you out of trouble with the debit collectors and how best to communicate to them in order not to start the cycle all over again for another 7 years of reporting. No membership required. Had I received that book prior to being served from a third party collector mentioned first in the book, I could have saved myself $3,500.00. I hired an attorney because I was served and was fearful. If I had received the book I would have know that the collector that had me served is one of the worst out there even worse than MCM. Most people make the mistake by acknowleding they owe the debit.

MCM called me today at work for the second time and I stopped the person on the other line dead in his tracks, before he could start on his spill. I stated that it was my second verbal warning not to contact me at my place of employment. He's response was well then I will report refusal to pay debit. I stated what alleged debit and he hung up. Don't be afraid, I pitty the poor soul that works at places like that.

You can if they are trying unfair collection tacktics to counter sue them for the alleged debit. Most of the persons on the phone are not educated as to the Fair Credit Act and are just trying to bully their way through to you. Credit cards are un-secured debt and they can not take property from you or place a lien against you, they do know this and will try as they might to make you crumble.....

Free Credit report is free.

You do not have to sign up for the triple advantage. I receive one free credit report a year from all three bureaus. I receive email alerts, when persons are looking at my credit and if there is a change in my credit score. This has help me dispute items that appear immediately. I have items appear on my report that were related to my ex-husband and I made sure to remove his name off my credit report. That has stopped agencies from trying to effect my score for debit that was and is his and from having to contact each agency to have the debit proved and removed.

If there are other tools you have found useful I am listening.

I send a debt validation letter via certified mail to Midland Credit Management and waited for a reply from ANDREW WILLIAMS X2414,C481. He sent me out a letter which he printed out from his computer. I asked him to send me that he is licensed in my state, and give me your license number he never send it to me.

So I had this Citi-Card when I was in the middle of a divorce. When I got the letter from Citi-Card that I needed to make a payment or else, I did just that. I called and made a $200 payment and arranged to make the FINAL $200 payment at the end of the month. Two weeks after the initial payment I was notified that the card was in collections! It's been two years; I think I am on my 3rd collector: MCM for $1100. They called my office and advised me that if I didnt make a payment before ending the call they would treat my case as refusal to settle debt, and that they "had the means to take this further." I explained the situation to the passive aggressive caller and she advised I had a "very long, uphill battle ahead of me." I feel like I don't know what to do. I have endured some pretty gnarly credit agancies in these two years and I am not sure if I have it in me to keep fighting.. but I REFUSE to just give my money away. Advice?

My question is this. Is it lawful for a debt collection company to discuss the particulars of an account with my spouse without consent from me? Can they lie about the SOL not being valid because tthe account is in collections? Can MCM call me 4 times back to back to back to back because they reached my answering machine? This company is full of clowns and I think it is about time they paid for their lies.
